Cool solo section - and great production too!

I have an admission to make. For all this time, I was recording my DI's way too hot and not leaving anywhere near as much headroom as I should have on my master track. I also mastered my stuff in such a way that vastly reduced the dynamic range. Today, I finally set about trying to amend that.

The first thing I did was drastically reduce my input volume to prevent any clipping of my dry DI's. Next, I reduced the volume of all my guitar, bass and drum presets so that my master track was peaking at about -7dB. Finally, I adjusted my mastering chain to allow for more dynamic range while still attaining a reasonable 'loudness'.

This is the result of my day's work. There are probably some issues here and there with the mix but overall I'm happy with what I've got so far. There is still work to be done but I think I've made good progress so far! And hopefully the clip isn't too bad either!
