New Bass Day! I finally got myself my own bass, a Yamaha TRBX 305 and I thought I'd make a wee clip to test it out. I'm also using my Ibanez RG8 for this clip.

Only Girl in the World (Rihanna Cover)

Straight ahead heavy riffs in this song. One of the first songs I wrote and recorded using my newer recording method, now redone with Lepou Legion and Superior Drummer for maximum awesomeness! And of course played on my trusty Fender Stratocaster!

Again, an older song which I redid with Superior Drummer and new guitars, although I kept the old cleans because I still use that same tone! One of my more varied tracks, I guess!

Trying to nail my mix with the Axe-FX II. This time I'm also doing the bass on the Axe-FX and it sounds absolutely huge!

The clip itself is inspired by TessaracT and some old school Cloudkicker.

The last mixtest I'm doing with the Axe-FX and the Mayones Regius 7 before going into full album recording mode again. Trying to add some layers to a big silly chorus section. This may or may not be a piss take of an anime opening theme song.

Senpai, Please Notice Me! (先輩、私に気付いて下さい！)

The guys over at Positive Grid were kind enough to hook me up with a copy of Bias Desktop for me to try out and I was amazed at the tones you could get out of it, as well as the massive amount of tone customisation that's available!

For this clip, I ran a noise gate, compressor and tubescreamer plugin in front of Bias to drive the input and used reverb and delay on the leads. The guitar I used was my Mayones Regius 7. Otherwise, all you're hearing is Bias in action! Kind of wish I had an iPad so I could take it on the go with me!

I absolutely love the split coil neck pickup tone that is used on TesseracT's new album Polaris and since I my Mayones Regius 7 has a split coil, I thought I'd try and get a similar sort of tone by recording a little mixtest/TesseracT rip off!

Another mixtest with the new Axe-FX II Quantum Firmware and the Metal Machinery SDX, playing a section of 'The Bad Thing' by Periphery. I've tuned up a step to BADGBE (lol, there's even the word 'Bad' in the tuning) because my 6 strings are always in standard or drop D, not drop C.

Made a few tweaks to the drums and the overall mix. I'm still trying to get the levels right and the drums also seem to jump up in volume during fills, but it's something that I'll get in time I think!

Ultimate Guitar Tone

So incredibly, it's almost been 5 years since I release my first album Cassini and I've been toying with the idea of remixing and remastering Cassini as a 5th Anniversary Special Edition or something. Is this something that people want to hear?

Also, is it lame to call it a 5th Anniversary Remaster?

I wanted to do a Haunted Shores style song about 6 months ago and this is me actually having finished it. Added a post-rockish section in the middle as well as a sub drop, something I've never used before!
Also reminiscent of Biffy Clyro's Saturday Superhouse. Definitely intentional.

New mixtest with the new DAW. Trying to make the kick and snare sound bigger, as well as making the drums sound more natural by adding more room to the overall drum mix. I'm also using a new, more aggressive bass tone and adding more low end to the guitars for a bigger, but tighter mix with the new drum sounds. Hopefully I can tweak this and use it for the new album!

September 2017 - New DAW, New Mixtest!

Nobody needed to hear an anime opening style remix of 'Reimagined' by The Contortionist, but I did it anyway.

This will be my 'entry' for the remix competition. And in anime fashion, it's called Re:Imagined, with the random colon for good effect.
