This week DK returns with a trawl through the digital inbox and catches up on some recent and upcoming releases. We kick off once again with the excellent Warrior One remix of 'Eyesdown' by Bonobo and continue in a leftfield uptempo groove with Martyn, Joy Orbison and Octa Push, before dropping the huge bomb that is the Nero mix of 'Sincere'. More bass heavy beats follow before dropping down with new material from the great Gil Scott-Heron, Jay Electronica and the original from Billy Stewart. It's a west London shuffle with 2000 black on the remix for Ty and Seiji mixing it with Jern Eye. Classics from Tom Tom Club and Donald Banks along with some Afrobeat flavours bring the first hour to a close.

We asked Stereo:Type about the process of making this mix, and here is what he had to say:

"When you're commissioned to make a mix for DJ Shadow, you know you have to pull something special out of the bag. Making sure it was a musical experience was as much a key part of this as making it a hype mix to listen to, considering you are working with material by a guy whose process involves finding sounds which work together as though they were made for one another. When i was approached to do this, I was asked to make the mix using material either sampled by, or remixed for or by Shadow. So Instead of making it a straight up one track into another kind of mix, I tried to approach it like a live performance, deconstructing tracks into their component parts then re-assembling and combining them with my own take on it. I certainly hope people have as much of a blast listening to it as i did making it."

Stereo:Type's DJ Shadow Re-Mixtape

In 2009, I consulted for, and appeared in, Activision's DJ Hero video game.   As part of my involvement, I performed at quite a few industry events and eventually did a couple of club dates.  Some of these sets were more rehearsed than others, and the quality varied.  This one, recorded live on Halloween night at a KCRW benefit, was far and away my favorite of the bunch...both in terms of technical display and song selection.  I'll post some of the other recorded sets later, there's some nice moments along the way.- DJ Shadow

The four DJs’ dedication to their art has led them to make a clean sweep of the DMC World Champion title for four years in the row (2003 - 2006).

C2C consists of 20syl and Greem (from Hocus Pocus) and Pfel and Atom (from BeatTorrent). 

After a decade of teamwork, they dropped their debut EP, Down the Road in 2012. The success of this first project provided a strong foot forward for the anticipated release of their groundbreaking album Tetra the same year.

Critically acclaimed, the record was rewarded four “Victoire de la Musique” (French Grammys) and a Double Platinium Record. 

Features’ enthusiast, C2C has invited several artists on record (Gush, Jay Jay Johansson...) and has shared the stage with major acts such as French poly instrumentalist -M-, while working on iconic remixes (Bernhoft, Vitalic etc.).

Their original music videos F.U.Y.A. and Delta showcases C2C’s neat and eccentric visual esthetic. 

On stage, C2C’s impressive scenography discloses the band’s love for graphic design and visual arts. Their flawless identity and their original sound catapulted the quartet from European’s biggest stages to the Coachella music festival.

Savant mix of Hip Hop and electronic C2C’s has shaken the music landscape and has turned turntabilsm into a pop culture phenomenon.
