This months mix comes in nice and early.  It's made up of mix of new tracks and ones I've Shazammed when out over the last few weeks.  The result is a really nice blend of the old and new.
Highlights for me include DJ Rolando's "Jaguar", Cinthie's "Mellifluous", DJ Chus's "The Feeling" and Spiritual South's "Green Gold".
I've had this mix on repeat for the last four days which is usually a good sign!

This mix is from the last show in August, but since we already have an August release out there it's more of a peak into the upcoming September mix. The beginning of the mix is like the start of the night.  A nod to those minimal deep rolling, chugging sounds you hear when you first get to the club. We then have a flurry of vocal tunes thanks to Martin Evans (Brum's finest) who was in the chat room asking for female vocals again (he asks every time, sometimes I listen :)) We then get a little chunky with some solid floor stompers. The mix ends with a couple of older tunes.  The first is from the 90's an excellent Curtis & Moore remix of Sandy B's "Make The World Go Round".  The second is from 2001 courtesy of Bob Sinclar.  I first heard this track on the excellent Ministry Sessions 12 (The Magic Sessions) - Louie Vega's mix.  Not sure why I've never played it in a mix before. AND in doing the tracklisting for this release I just realised that I played a song twice in the mix!!  See if you can spot it. My very first release!  After 30 years of playing everyone else's music I've finally made one of my own.  Feedback very welcome.

The Best Weed In Brooklyn

This is my second track.
It's based on Cathy Brown's 90's classic Can't Play Around.
The MAW mix has an amazing break in the middle.  It's not a long break but the chords are top shelf.

The beats are more afro like.

Can't Play

This is my third track produced.

This is a nice short no nonsense little number.  It features two breaks.
The vocal is taken from CBounce Pres Candyflip - Keep The Faith.

Womp

Track number 4
Started this with my youngest son Dion, hence the name of the track.
He made the call with the beats and the melody, the rest was my call.
Within an hour we had the core of the track!

The main melody is from Splice, the rest was created.
The vocal is from Zone Ranger - To Be Real, an absolute beast of a track from the early 90s.

Dijon

Fifth release.  This is on a very different vibe to everything so far.
Inspiration came from a track I used to love in 1991 - 'Crunch - 50c'.
The break in the original always gave me goosebumps but ended too soon.
My main goal was to create a break that made me feel the same as I did about the original.
In the end I took the bassline, one of the key riffs and the rude bwoy vocal.

It definitely has a sinister feel to it, nothing like the stuff I usually make/play, but I want to make different styles of music so this is my first deep house foray.

Crunchy

Track 6 - a fierce little beast running round the forest.

Dirty Vibes

Track number seven.
I wanted to make an afro track next.  Came up with the fill while listening to an Osunlade mix, hearing the tribal drums.
The tune retains a very urban sound.  The vocals were an absolute find, they run with the track adding intensity.

I've played this out a couple of times now and it really lit up the dancefloor.  It creates a real energy and vibe which is great to see and hear.

London Nights

This mix is a recording from a recent event at the Civic Underground club in Sydney.
It was the gloves off set for Mark Farina who had just done a four hour harbour boat party for Mushroom Jazz earlier that evening.
I was asked if I wanted to do the closing set, and who would I wanted to go b2b with.
Two names immediately came to mind, Ritmiq, a deep and minimal house DJ who I rate highly and iLLya Cooper a well known Sydney legend.  In the end I went with iLLya, because of his long standing friendship with Mark, having played alongside him on many previous tours.
A lot of people thought I was brave and a little crazy trying to play b2b with such a skilled DJ, but I wanted to be challenged.
I had iLLya come onto my radio show a couple of days before the event to see how we could sound together.  You can check out the show here.
The atmosphere in the club was pretty special, the crowd was very knowledgable and a real mix of ages.  Mark got them fired up good and proper and before we knew it, we were up.
iLLya started our set off and played for the first 15 minutes.  We then went back and forth for the next hour and a half.  As you can hear iLLya drops acappellas and vocal hits all through the mix, scratching and chopping.  It was a wild experience but so much fun.
I dropped my latest track "London Nights" and was blown away by the response.  Everything seemed to change on the dancefloor, different people were suddenly at the front of the dancefloor in front of me and they were giving it some.  It felt amazing seeing people connect and enjoy something you have created.
I really hope to get the chance to play b2b with iLLya again.  A longer set would be magic as we were just getting into our stride.
For anyone in Sydney you can catch me at Tatler tomorrow night where I have the whole night to myself!!!  Four hour set where I can stretch my legs and play some incredible music from the last 35 years of house.
The following Saturday (21st), I am back at the Civic again for Night Safari.  I'll be picking up where I left off.
Finally, on NYE I'll be playing for Boogie at the Ivy Ballroom supporting none other than DJ Spen and Dave Lee (Joey Negro)!
It's been a great year for DJing out for me, fingers crossed that 2025 continues in the same direction.

Inspired by a mix I heard Kenny Dope do in Sydney in 2012!
He looped the start of beautiful people over and over with "Everybody Be Somebody".
The rude bassline is courtesy of Jeremy Sylvester.
No brainer when it came to the vocal.  One of the most famous in house music.
No chance this will see the light of day on a label.  Unlikely to get clearance.  So for now, just enjoy it hear on Soundcloud.

Beautiful Persons

Last month we said goodbye to Pressure Radio after almost 13 years (Feb).
This month we make our debut on Vocal Booth Radio, a new radio station set up and run by Andy Ward.  We've moved from Thursdays fortnightly to Tuesdays weekly.  The time remains the same.

The chatroom is similar but with new updated emojis which kicked off a few Emoji wars in the chatroom.  I didn't know what to expect for my first show, would anyone be there!
I needn't have worried as there were great numbers inside the chatroom and on the outside.
We also had amazing support from Sydney.  For large parts of the show we had more people from Sydney than not from Sydney!  I even got to know new people in Sydney, not something you expect on a Spanish radio station!
Huge thank you to everyone that tuned in especially those in the chat.  There was such great energy during the show in the chatroom.  I'm looking forward to holding court in the chatroom every Tuesday.

Here we go with the start of a new month and with it a new mix of fresh new sounds.  I actually ran out of new tunes, it was a well discussed topic in the chatroom as to whether I had enough.  So I decided to end the mix with two of my own tracks, Can't Play which was my second track made and my latest one, Beautiful Persons.
I was also so happy to be able to play a track I melted in 1998 in my attic room in Nottingham.  I got excited when Defected bought Strictly Rhythm's back catalogue but The Believers, Heather Wildman - Gotta Keep Holding On wasn't released.  Imagine my surprise when it suddenly shows up in Traxsource!

Locking in the guest DJ for this month, Tony Garcia of Rotary Disco fame.  He produced the excellent remake or Nights Over Egypt - Over Pyramids that appeared in last months mix.  One of the nicest guys in the scene, I can't to have him on.

For those of you in Sydney you can catch me next on Feb 16th playing for Soul Of Sydney who are doing a Frankie Knuckles tribute event.  Looking forward to spinning vinyl from across the decades for a very appreciative older crowd.

Finally - it was nice to be able to pay respects to the late, great Michael Procter.  Another of house musics great male vocalists.  R.I.P. brother.

London Nights (Garage)

Apologies for the late arrival of the May mix.  Ironically it was recorded on April 30th's radio show, but as per you the perfectionist in me wasn't 100% happy with the flow and had intentions of re-doing later in the month which of cause didn't happen.  However the more I listened to the mix the more I fell in love with it.  Now I don't hear any issues or flaws in it!
The tunes in the mix really are top shelf.  I feel I got lucky when I went shopping on TraxClart because it's rare these days to land a large number of really good tracks.
I must give a nod my friend Emma who played on the show earlier in the year.  I got the first track on the mix listening to her playing a chill disco set at a swanky bar in Sydney.  I'm increasingly finding great tunes when I'm out hearing other DJs sets and Emma's tastes are right up my street so she often has me Shazamming or loitering around the decks when she's spinning.  Some of you may also spot that I included Radic The Myth's "Roses" too which featured on Emma's debut show mix.  Such a deep smooth track, incredible.
I love the flow of the first few tracks especially as it was the first time I'd heard most of them.
Not all of the tracks are new releases but are new to my collection.  A great example being the late Michael Watford's "Since I Met You", an absolute beast of a tune.  The last track also falls into that category - Sandee - Notice Me from 1988!  So deep, waaay ahead of it's time, still smashes a dancefloor.
Other notable call outs are Groove Committee - I Want You To Know, another track I heard while out.  This time it another mate Phil Toke from Soul Of Sydney who played it while supporting Norman Jay.
Lastly big shout to DJ Cinthie for putting me onto Ladymonix - Welcome 2 My House.  I love dropping that into a set and watching the reaction.
I hope you agree it was the right decision to release this mix.  I've been enjoying every day for the last two months and it seemed wild that no one else could!

Who Dat?

This mix marks the start of a new (kinda new) series I'm launching.  Every month I will do a show focusing on a specific year.  We kick off with 2005.  Why 2005?  Well it's a pretty significant year.  It's the year most DJs made the switch from vinyl to digital, me included.  The first six months of 2005 was all vinyl for me.  Then around the time I got married in June I treated myself to a pair of Denon DNS-3000s.  And with that also came my introduction to the mighty Traxsource, or Cracksource as many of us know it as.
I remember reading Brian Tappert's press releases about the platform and getting so excited.  You see with vinyl you bought it and had to wait for the postman.  Could be be days sometimes.  With Traxsource you left with your music, it was a game changer.  Also the price dropped considerably.  I'd been paying 6.99 for a US import, sometimes 7.50.  With Traxsource it was just 1.99!
Suddenly you could buy so much more for the same money.
This is when I stepped up to making monthly mixes, it was now affordable.  I don't know what changes producers felt at the time but 2005 is regarded as one of the great years for house music.  New genres and sounds were emerging as you'll here in the mix.

Where do we start with this one.  Started off as a regular guest mix show with  Emma (aka em_laa) who previously appeared on the show back at the start of the year.
However we were having so much fun that when we cut the feed for the radio we carried on for another 2hrs.  Yes that's right this is an almost four hour mix.
And I can tell you it's chock full of sexy smooth deep house and soulful house goodness.  It's hard to tell who is playing at any given time, unless you know our sound and music collections really well.
Unfortunately this mix is so long there is very little chance of me being able to do a tracklist!!  I apologise.

c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - Emma July 2025

So last month I started the annual classics series with the 2005 mix.
This week I flipped it round and did a mix based on the month I bought the music.  Since it's July that's the month I went with.  I have done this a couple of times on Pressure Radio with a Junes and Decembers mix.  It's fun and helps you reconnect with older music you may not have heard for years.
When I started the mix and looked in my music folders I realised that July isn't a common month for me.  Up to 2017 I have most years covered all the way back to 2005.  In fact July 2005 is my oldest digital track.  However in recent years I have been overseas in July , usually at Suncebeat and therefore don't buy music until I get back in August.  As a result a lot of this mix is from pre 2015/6.  Not that you can tell of course, unless you know when certain tracks were released.
I tried to keep a pretty chill vibe for the majority of the mix.  Not something I'm used to doing, but for the most part I think I did a pretty good job!
It was never going to last the whole mix though and so in the last 30 minutes I let off some steam.  Have to say July has some absolute bangers so the end of the mix is strong like Ox.

I've been lucky to land Simon Caldwell and Jerry Drew to play alongside myself.  The first event is all about the early 90's house scene.

c2eMusic Radio Show on VBR - All The Julys 2025

Originally recorded at the end of July but missed the release window.
This mix has a nice healthy dose of garage in the centre, but the last third is just straight up fire. The Riva Starr mix of Dennis Ferrer's Hey Hey from 2020 is the highlight for me.  Everytime I hear it it gets me going.  Genius.
Other standout tracks this month, "The Situation", "Better Days" and Dennis Quins quality garage take on Lood's classic Shout-N-Out.  So many great mixes of that track to chose from but I love the vibe on the garage version.
I put on my very first event last Friday night.  A classics night focussing on 1990-93 house.  The music was on point and the crowd created such a great vibe.  Despite the weather turning nasty just before doors opened everyone that came had a great night.  I'm proud of myself for getting out there and trying something new that comes with a fair amount of risk.  Already planning the next event later in the year.

I've been trying to get Tony Garcia on my radio show for the whole of 2025 and after eight months we got there.  DJ/Producer and all round nice guy Tony has a number of residencies around the city, many of them playing vinyl.  Founder of Rotary Disco and Klubhouse, Tony will be joining me at Tatler this Saturday from 12-3 for a BIG b2b sessions.
This mix gives a hint of what we might sound like together.  It's the first of three confirmed b2b sessions over the coming weeks.

Back with the best of month series and it Augusts turn.  It's a strong month as it historically has been when I buy the best tracks from Suncebeat when I get home.  You'll recognise a fair few of them in the second half of the mix.
The first half goes back ten to twenty years and we've got some whoppers.  When you look at the artists on this mix you see the quality stand out.  Masters At Work, Quentin Harris, Karizma, Mr V, Terry Hunter, Sir Piers, Osunlade, Jimpster, Romanthony to name a few.
I enjoy the monthlys as they cut across time bringing together tunes from the last 20 years as that's how far back my digital collection goes.
Busy schedule coming up for gigs as we head into a new season down under.  Highlights include playing on boat in the harbour with David Penn, and opening for Mark Farina at Carousel one of my favourite clubs.  I closed for Mark around the same time last year so he is now the international DJ I've played most with.  Both gigs see me go b2b with two DJs that have been on the radio show this year.  Good friends Dante Rivera and Tony Garcia.  Can't wait to play b2b with my mates at such good events.

This is the recording from an event I recently did here in Sydney.  My friend and incredible house dancer Robin Chen reached out asking whether I would be interested in playing for 90 minutes in an upcoming house dance battle.
I've always wanted to play music for these guys to watch how they react to the sounds and the flow of my sets, so I said yes.
On the day 40 of the cities best house dancers showed up for the cities inaugural house dance battle.  I tried to play a diverse range of beats to give the dancers something different to connect with over the 90 minutes.  Secret judges picked out dancers to compete in a last 16 battle format.
It was so cool watching the room move almost as one to the sway of the rhythm.  Most people when they dance have at least one foot on the ground at all times.  With these guys it almost feels like the opposite, they appear to float and glide.  When you have a room full of people moving like that it's surreal.  So graceful, almost other worldly.
It gives me great pleasure to be able to share the set with you here so you can recreate with your crews, or simply enjoy the journey while on your way to work or at the gym.
Already looking forward to future events.  Thanks to Robin and crew for making this a reality.
Look out for upcoming warehouse gatherings to bring the music and all dancers together under one house.

This doesn't happen very often, in fact this is a first.  For this weeks radio show I played the set from the Sydney House Dance Battle.  However that's only 90 minutes long and the show is two hours, so this mix has 30 minutes of extra music.
I'll be honest every time I heard the original mix I was left wanting more when it ended with Jesus Creates A Sound.  Well I've answered my own wish!!
The songs in the last 30 minutes are heavyweights in their respective sub genres.  Like Mike Tyson heavyweights.
I'm not sure anyone will listen to the original mix now as it's almost identical but shorter.  There are some subtle differences in the transitions though.  Most notably Heaven and Jesus Creates A Sound.  I'll be honest the original mix has much more intensity in that transition.  Horses for courses I guess.  Both are free and available here so go nuts.

The next instalment in the monthly series.  This time we comb through tracks acquired in the month of September all the way back to 2005.
This mix is a nice mellow melodic journey without any of the usual crazies.  It was interesting because there really weren't many big anthems, monsters or beasts.  Just lots of beautiful tunes.
Maybe with it being the end of the northern hemisphere summer all the producers have already released their big tunes for Ibiza and other party hotspots.  Who knows, but this was a very different experience to the first three monthlys.

This is a test run for a requested mix from my mate Martin Evans in the UK.  He's a MASSIVE soulful vocal nut.  He's always telling me I need more vocals in my set, especially female.  One day last August while chatting he started sending you-tube links to his favourite tunes and challenged me to make a mix with them.  I agreed and then kept forgetting.  A year later I finally bought the tracks, I only had a few of them.
For last night's show I thought I'd give them a test run.  I hadn't listened to them so didn't know how much energy they had to know where they would sound best in the mix.  I nearly always have a rough idea even if I've only just bought something, but with these ones I was going in totally blind with the mindset that this would never see the light of day!
During the show the chatroom was loving the tunes, they are classics in the soulful vocal scene.  Martin was in the chatroom making full use of all the positive emojis.
I recorded the show so I could listen and get a better feel for the flow, which I still intend to do one day.  In the meantime I'm sharing this version for all you soulful vocal boys & girls to enjoy, despite it being a demo.  I couldn't find the tracks he asked for that I already had, with a couple of exceptions so I had to improvise the last 20 minutes, but tried to chose quality product.
What are your thoughts?  Does Martin know his stuff?  Was it worth the pestering?  Does it need an updated version with better flow and programming?

c2eMusic on VBR - Uncle Martin's Singalong

This is the second 2 0 0 8 mix now with the first one back in 2017 so eight years apart.  I tried to make sure the two didn't have all the same track as that would have been a waste of time making.  Only two tracks appear in both, but they're great tracks so I doubt anyone will complain.
The first hour is a fairly soulful affair with the opening 25 minutes on the deeper side.
The second hour is a mix of higher energy soulful stuff and straight up house.  Some great tracks in the last half, it was hard deciding which way to go next with every track played because there were so many options and all of them BIG tunes.
I am happy with the way it ended up and the journey taken.  Hopefully some of your favourites made it in too.

This week I was joined by local DJ Terry A (Anastasiadis).  Got into the scene in the mid 90's and carried on spinning tunes until the mid 00's.  Terry is one of the DJs playing at my upcoming 90's Classics boat party on November 16th in the afternoon on the world famous Sydney Harbour.  As you'll hear Terry brings that awesome US sound synonymous with that era.
The clocks had changed over the prior weekend which meant the show started an hour later in order to maintain the same UK start.  Unfortunately I forgot and so we started an hour early and had to play for three hours.  Terry didn't bring enough vinyl for such a long set. It was almost all used up in his first 90 minute solo.  So for the last half of the mix he was rummaging through my collection which let's just say could be a little better organised!!
So many great tracks in this mix I guarantee you won't have heard for years.  A real throwback session.
Looking forward to hearing what Terry brings to the boat party.  If your coming along you're in for a treat.

c2eMusic on VBR - Guest Mix - Terry A

This weeks show had another guest, this time a fellow Vocal Booth Radio DJ based here in Sydney.  Maurizio Marchetti plays in my old time slot on a Thursday once a month.  He's a big vinyl nut collecting edits and mashups alongside choice cuts from the last 40+ years.  His sets have a lot of energy often underpinned by a funky/disco vibe but you can't pigeon hole that easily as you'll hear in this mix.  We went all over on this one.
He grew up in London and so was exposed to the same house culture I was.  We both share a love  so for many of the same sounds, sub genres, labels, artists.  
He's a regular resident DJ for Boogie Wonderland, one of the most successful nights in Sydney and Maurizio has put down so many now legendary sets that get the crowd and especially the ladies very excited.  I also played alongside him as part of another local collective Larry's Herd.  We've done a few b2b gigs over the last couple of years.  It's always fun to play alongside him because of the breadth and depth of his sound and knowledge.
He came to this mix intent on playing gems I might not have.  Happy to say he failed for the most part, but I don't have any of his mashups, he got me on those.
This show was so fun to do.  Maurizio played for the first hour and came out like the rabbit in a greyhound race!  Then for the second hour we went b2b.  We each had our own deck, so it was one record each - vinyl.  Really living on the edge!  You can't plan ahead because you don't know what the other person is gonna play.  You then have three minutes tops to rummage, choose, "load" onto turntable, beat match, cue and drop.  Believe me that's not a lot of time, especially when your vinyl isn't sorted!!  And as you will hear we didn't stay in any one lane for long.
So many great tunes in this mix, it's sure to become a favourite for many of you.
