The intention for this piece is to create a quantum planetary universe of splintered sounds. This can easily result in just chaotic randomness. Therefore I clot seperate short soundclips into groups. In turn, those new groups clot into bigger clusters. This way I gain massive individual soundobjects with high granular density. Polyrhythmical structures are enclosed by repeating short granular patterns, like frozen mechanisms. These loops connect the bigger soundobjects in time. Some things are too big to control, others too small. In between I compose.
"Helena" received a special mention on the competition "Métamorphoses 2014" (Brussels), was finalist on the competition "Città di Udine - TEM 2014" (Italy) and won first prize on the 7th International Competition of Electroacoustic Music Composition, Category Acousmatic, of The Foundation Destellos  (Argentina) in 2014.

The first release from The Bug’s ‘PRESSURE’ label in 2019, is an absolute sound system crusher from JK Flesh(aka Justin Broadrick Godflesh/Jesu/Zonal etc…). Three tracks of the slowest, heaviest, dread techno you are ever likely to hear. Plus a remix from The Bug himself, in full doom riff mode. 

Kevin Martin (aka The Bug) is quoted as saying “I’m as proud of dropping this epic 12”, as i was of being the person to release Godflesh ‘Love is a Dog from Hell’, many moons ago on my old label Pathological Records. This time around, Justin again redefines absolute heaviness,  but in a club format, as he gets sociopathic with his homicidal riffs and deep space explorations. Absolute malevolence, a complete body slaughter. I virtually begged Justin to let me release ‘In Your Pit’ ! haha. And i’m very happy he agreed and additionally passed me two more tracks of utter dirt”

JK Flesh has previously released music via Speedy J’s Electric Deluxe imprint, Regis Downwards label and Vatican Shadow/Prurient’s Hospital Productions. He also recently released a split album with Goth-Trad, entitled ‘Knights of the Black Table’.

In 2018, PRESSURE unleashed the Bug collaboration with Burial as FLAME 1, released Miss Red’s outstanding ‘K.O.’ album, and detonated 12” club destroyers by NAZAMBA and G36. If this ‘E.P.’ is any indication of what 2019 holds for the label, this year will further intensify the label’s promotion of “Dub, Dancehall, Grime and Dirt” and absolute speaker shredding carnage.

Japanese artist Maiko Okimoto aka Lemna returns to Horo following her acclaimed EP for the SNTS helmed label ‘Sacred Court’. Retrocausality is 2 EP’s that continue her genre-less approach to electronic music. Aligned most closely to the Grey Area sound that Sam KDC and ASC have been expanding on in recent years, Maiko’s approach is singular. The reality of her music working on dance-floors for Techno audiences is a happily incidental result and not a structural design. Maiko’s music comes entirely from an innate feeling transferred into grooves and ethereal ambience.

Retrocausality works with the concept of the crossover between the spirit world and science - for example, the commonality of thoughts and theories in Buddhist philosophy and Quantum Physics. The realms of these are divided, but essentially the concepts are similar.

The EP’s title ‘Retrocausality’ implies that we can perceive this world from both in terms of ‘A Priori’ (from cause) and ‘A Posteriori’ (from result).

The tracks on Retrocausality represent an accurate cross section of Maiko’s musical style, from the other worldly ambience of Supervoid to the rhythmic winding of Thusness and the heads down floor tunnel of Sattva.

At a time when electronic music is becoming less adventurous as a whole, Lemna represents a beacon of intrigue.
