‘To conclude this year, I switched it up a bit for this podcast and didn’t do a DJ set. This time I made a studio mix which compiles tracks, loops & sound bits into a mix. I always wanted to try this and see what I would come up with and ended up having a lot of fun with it. There are so many possibilities and I ended up tweaking this for way too long. Hope you enjoy this sound showcase of new & old tracks, random percussion loops and synth additions.’

ANTIDOTE PODCAST 082: VROMO

While music always was important to him, starlet discovered house music at age 18, and directly fell in love. From that time on, he felt the urge to keep exploring that sound, and quickly discovered techno.

Driven to bring back the 90s sound, starlet will keep pushing “old” music mixed with the new techno sound. Always discovering new music, always self-improving while digging all the record bins in town.

Hiphop

Before i started to get into techno and mixing i was mainly listening to old hiphop records and i still am today. Hiphop has had some big influences in the house/techno/gabber scene, you hear a lot of samples coming back in these genres so hiphop and electronic music are well connected to each other, probably why I’ve started to appreciate old electronic music so much. So i thought why not give it a shot to mix some hiphop records i have laying around. 

I had fun mixing something else than what i usually mix, it’s is a totally different way of mixing which i’m not really used to. With that being said of course there’s room for improvement on technique.

Putting out a hiphop mix is not something i’m going to do regularly but every once in a while to keep it a bit “special”, and because hip hop records are expensive and i want to keep it vinyl only.
