The project is to go through the stages of smaraṇa – rememberence, dhāraṇa – concentration, and then into the stage of dhyāna – meditation. In the stage of dhyāna, the beautiful form of Śrī Kṛṣṇa will begin to appear, reflected on the stable citta, on your stable mind, the beautiful form of Kṛṣṇa will be reflected there. And then gradually, His qualities, His associates, and one will go into the stage of dhruva-anusmṛti, very fixed, continuous, uninterrupted remembrance, and then it will turn into samādhi – trance. This is where we want to go, through these stages. This the project of japa! When we sit down, now just switch off all the senses: eyes off, ears off, the material tongue off, smell off, touch off – all senses off - pratyāhāra! And letting go off everything and completely take shelter of Nāma Prabhu - leaving this world behind. You sit on an āsana - this is your launch pad to go to Goloka Vṛndāvana. So leave this body and mind behind here, and offer your soul completely to Nāma Prabhu. This is the project.
This is not possible by looking around here and there, talking and getting up and going around. Your “rocket” will stay on the launch pad and you will not go anywhere. Be fully fixed and aware and focussed on your project!
