I have revisited my first ever production that launched my production career.  I have been playing it at gigs since early this year with big and humbling reaction.  Happy to share this now and say THANK YOU for the many years of support from long time listeners and to the newer ones too.

The first track of mine to reach commercial release, "...For All The People" circa 1994-ish.  I met my Fade partner Neil Kolo in 1993, even though i had seen him roaming the dancefloor at AAHZ (and surfing local breaks)during the years before, we never met.  Our connection was instant and we started pursuing our passion in bedroom studio.  We had made a handful of tracks before this, but this is the one that caught attention and made more traction then before.  It wasn't until Icey heard me play it out at gig that we knew we had something above the norm.  He encouraged us to press it to vinyl....  

FADE was formed in the summer of 1993 when Neil Kolo, a young studio engineer, introduced himself to Chris Fortier, a young resident DJ at the now infamous "Marz" club in Cocoa Beach, FL, and passed on a tape of some of the material he had been working on. Chris, very enthused by what he had heard, expressed his interest in the idea of working together and learning about how to produce tracks of his own like the ones he had been playing up and down the East Coast of America.

Following on from the 2017 LP Paradygm Shift by Robert Hood released on Dekmantel Records, the Detroit legend returns to the imprint to deliver the final installment in a trilogy of EP releases that initially began back in February 2016. Now based in Alabama, the Detroit-techno producer is returning to his roots. Embracing the trademark, minimal, funk techno sounds that defined his earlier career, Paradygm Shift Vol. 3 is classic Hood, operating in new, and uncharted ways.

The EP is an extension on the concept as outlayed by Hood during the project’s conceptual stage: ‘‘The idea behind Paradygm Shift is similar to a shift in our focus. We can become so complacent; we are so comfortable with our surroundings, I think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset.’’ Kicking off off with ‘Red Machine’, where again parallels can be drawn between the days of Minimal Nation, and Internal Empire – the sound is sparse and brutalistic, representing a challenged future. A progressive melody syncopates along the tracks percussive, backbone, arching its way into the track’s eventual demise. On the B-side, ‘Transform’ provides a composition of stripped, down electro, while taking in the 606 style, and adding additional, textural depth. It’s a track full of subtle melody, and high-ranging claps, that make ‘Transform’ the perfect transitional tool, and standalone floor-filler at the same time.

‘Red Machine’ and ‘Transform’ reflect Hood’s modern take on challenging techno. Meditative in their sequenced repetition, the tracks draw you in with their audacious, and memorizing sequences. It’s contemporary techno, albeit techno that reflects Hood’s style and nature. Pulsating, electrifying, with dark undertones, and very much of that Detroit flavour.

Berlin-based producer Troy Gunner takes to his own GUNNER imprint with a stack of three UK-techno tracks found on 'GUNNER002', including the rough and rugged 'Stay Where You Are' complete with cosmic textures.

Following his release on Twin Turbo, British artist R.O.S.H. debuts on Rekids with four imaginative cuts entitled ‘Thanks For Keeping It Real EP’.

Real name Roshan Chauhan, UK artist and mix engineer R.O.S.H. has a knack for blending an array of different styles resulting in a refreshing approach to club music and his next release on Radio Slave’s respected Rekids imprint demonstrates exactly that.

With its raw melodies and rough, syncopated percussion, ‘AMG (CLA45 Mix)’ is a monster destined to shake warehouses. ‘In Roll’ then combines a frenetic rhythm with a deep and atmospheric aesthetic before R.O.S.H. takes us into even murkier territories with ‘PACE’ using metallic snares, shadowy reverb and whirring synths. Tying everything together, rattling drums and echoing stabs lay the foundations for ‘Thanks For Keeping It Real’ whilst a moody bassline and soothing chords ebb into the mix. of house music littered with breathy samples and oscillating atmospherics.

R.O.S.H. - PACE

Following up an array of functional club tools, 'made of CONCRETE' invite Linearis to offer up a pack of versatile and idiosyncratic tracks, while dub techno producer El Choop returns on remix duties.

Exploring the outer fringes of the 4/4 realm, 'Differences' delves into unexpected sound territories without losing touch with ground zero. Sub-heavy drums mix with cinematic pads and raw breaks on 'LDB', the genre-bending opener, while 'Trim FX' takes it back to the dancefloor with a highly energetic yet fluid, progressive cut. 'Slow Fade' explores a more melancholic side of techno, with its stripped back atmosphere and echoing dubs. El Choop gives the track a distinguishing treatment, amping up the atmospherics into a resonant, raw number.
