I wrote this tune several years back after an awesome visit with my Grandma Mae.  After high school she left home and briefly moved to New York to live with her older sister. She got a job as a waitress and every day caught the subway to work. On each of those mornings a local beat cop would wait with her until her train arrived to make sure she boarded safely.  Now at this point of the story she emphasized that the cop at no point ever got “fresh” with her lol.  I thought this was the sweetest story because it sounded obvious to everyone but her that he wanted to kick it (kno wat I’m sayin). I pretty much went straight home and wrote it from the officer’s point of view. My Grandma had been hard of hearing for a long time and I never played it for her. Maybe I was scared she would not have liked it.  Regardless of that fact I know she will hear it every time I listen to it now and that’s good enough for me.
