From what I've tasted of desire

Fire And Ice  - Song a Week 2020, Week 44

Along a star across a wind
Protagonist voice escalating 
Like windchime tornados
She felt his hand

And the sunset blossomed iridescent versions of vibrating guitar strings

An array of palettes and promenades of swirling dreams
In the dream she awoke to tell him

Under oceans, sensors begin detecting bioluminescence
And heat vents full of paradoxically native alien life forms
They speak to the living submarine and encourage her to enter the heat vent
Upon the entrance, their tiny ship rumbles and clatters
Fear and excitement radiate in the cabin of the submarine
What is deeper than the deepest sea?
What happens when you drift past the sea floor?
They find small humanoids dancing in saunas heated by the sea floor vent
Their skin is rainbow glitter and their fashions or fur appear to all be various colors of crushed velvet and large metal beltbuckles shaped in spirals
The humanoids are not afraid of us finding their spa world
They marvel at the cold ship and suddenly form one rainbow being
The crew can only sense this humanoid collage as something resembling collective consciousness
And the crew feels great peace as the rainbow being oozes into all the cells of their crew members

Suddenly the crew wakes up to find itself floating towards Epsilon Eridani
A planet with a star much like Earth’s and they don’t understand how their submarine has become a starship.
When they realize they are so far from their home planet of earth, many sob, many scream
They realize how much gratitude they forgot to share for their homeland
The beautiful earthworms they remember from gardening the lush Wisconsin soils
The clay underneath this topsoil
The way the winter air can become so crisp and the sun can shimmer along snowdunes
The smell of lavender leaves
And the pictures of their mother holding them as a baby
Somewhere a star is dying, but its light remains alive, dancing across the star worlds
To one day greet us with another dream, another inspiration, another song....
