"All tracks on this album were written between 2008 and 2013 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia. It was a time of early experimentation with micro-sound and an exploration of different aspects of my musical identity.

«Étude» is an instrumental composition often designed to perfect a particular musical skill. Whilst making these songs I have been discovering and practicing new techniques. Be it mindful glitch-programming, sampling dad’s jazz records, or testing limits of the simplest FL Studio synth 3xOSC. The main goals were pretty much the same every time, to find fresh formulas and unusual patterns for new audio experiences. 

Some of the tracks were made before signing to Med School (Searching The Truth, Microfunk, Phantasmagoria). Some were not included in my first three albums for one reason or another (Banana Electro Bebop Jam, I’m Not A Human, Dub Forest, Punk’s Not Dead). Projects for ‘Insight’, ‘Galactic Glider’, ‘Trash Bin Galaxy’ were lost, and so I used the latest found rendered versions here.

Genre-wise this album is quite broad. From ambient and experimental dub to wonky jazzy hip-hop and post dubstep. But, despite the diversity of the material I think it still has a strong identity and tells a complete musical story, from our first minimalist manifesto ‘Microfunk’ and deep leftfield drum & bass rollers, to more experimental twisted and sometimes dark ideas on the B side.
