Solid Steel (30th August) Coldcut presents 2 Hours of Sanity Pt. 1 Love - This is Part 1 in a new Coldcut series of mixes.

The mind map lists the bases we want to cover, and some part of the links between our lifelong music experience and the electronic scene of today.  It's partly about playing with the interface between DJ mixes of other peoples tunes, and producer/studio mixes creating original tunes. Using micro slicing and multi threading of material, with an ear for the magic moment of harmonic mix beauty and eye for mix aptness. 
The project is also about celebrating the history of musical experimentation, featuring innovators ancient to the future. Using spoken word from Sun Ra's Arkestra as a leitmotif, it's a tribute from Coldcut to some of the artists we feel have both moved us and changed the game.
You can catch Matt Black from Coldcut celebrating 25 years of Solid Steel alongside DJ Cheeba at We Love in Ibiza on 1st September.

It's nothing but a dream! A new Liveset by Resoul!
It begins with a dream and ends with it. Dreams mix the past and the present, often in a very surreal way. 
And so it is with this mix. Records from the archive of the last 40 years, from Flash & the Pen to Sade, Gang Starr, Moloko, Pepe Bradock, Karizma and neoclassical music by Mike Lazarev. Music without pigeonholes, without categorization of time. Extra thanks to Daniel Best for his support and thanks to all the remixers like Dave Lee, Kon, Rayko and especially JR Dynamite!

Spring Breaks 2024

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of returning to my home from home, Tisno in Croatia, for another edition of Hospitality on the Beach, with the Hospital Records crew and more. 

This time round, I was there to warm up the Beach Stage with some alternative chilled vibes, ahead of the heavyweight drum & bass programming across the week. I ended up doing three sets there this year, on one of my favourite DJ booths on the planet. Somewhere I’ve been lucky to spin at for well over a decade now.

This is a selection of 70 tracks I enjoyed playing, plucked from those sessions, mixed over the course of two and a bit hours, which was the average length of my sets.

X-genre vibes, starting off real laidback & going the full 360° spectrum of BPMs. 
Soul, r&b, hip hop, reggae, amapiano, beats, bruk, house, UK funky, garage, grime and dubstep, finishing on a touch of jungle and d&b. Plus, natch, a few guilty pleasures along the way (except I have no guilt about any of it).


Fun facts:

- I did the very first performance of the festival, opening the proceedings. A cancelled flight & various other issues meant going straight in without sleeping for about 30 hours, and riding on pure adrenaline and the Croatian heat!

- This mix was recorded in one take, live, no messing about, so similar to how it went down in Tisno. I kept it real.

- A cold before I left + short haul flight pressure = an ear infection, basically from the moment I landed in Tisno, which I still have!! So this was basically all mixed using one ear. Also similar conditions to how I did it there!

“Never on the left ‘cos my right’s my good ear” as Q Tip once said..
