Advanced Human @ Emergence 2nd Birthday (Wellington, New Zealand) Nov 2015

Emergence is back and very proud to be presenting the Return of Advanced Human on what is shaping up to be an epic night of Proper Techno in the capital. Since his last NZ visit, Advanced Human started putting on successful label nights in Sydney, and also regularly played gigs in Melbourne, with more recent bookings taking him to DJ at places such as Seco, Origami, Dommune in Tokyo, Circus, Compufunk in Osaka, Swallowtail in Kyoto, and Vurt in Seoul as well as running a string of record labels under Elektrax Music, and still finding time in the studio to produce and release quality tracks.

After in all 9 EPs and one album the Traum artists Ryan Davis and Microtrauma have joined forces to record a new EP together. 

They're opening track "Harmonia" is a track with a great choice of variables and a skilled and artistic form of shifting and moving them within the track. The result is a loose and unpredictable track which has gigantic, sonic moments. At times it takes out the beat and pulsates along not loosing any of the intensity, the contrary is the case... with each free minded passage the track gains more depth. "Harmonia" is a tremendous piece of hypnotic techno with an gripping arrangement.

"Calendula" starts rather introspective and silent but undergoes an enormous transition which puts it in a league with some of the best gentle pieces of melodic techno around.
It is hard to wrap up in words how the track moves to totally different corners music wise within its eight minute ride but for all of you who know Ryan Davis and Microtrauma you will have expected something like this to happen.

Dubspeeka has remixed "Calendula" in the style of a raw and heavy grinding techno track that is invaded by sounds that come and go in perfectly timed intervals.

"Philomela" rounds up the EP and is night crawler of a track that skillfully works with a broken beat and a carpet of orchestral sounds that later are joined by darker ones to create an overall gloomy atmosphere.

Considered one of Canada’s most accomplished electronic producers, Van Did’s appreciation for sound design, electro‐acoustics, & new techniques for signal processing is evident as he weaves texture & dimension into every aspect of his creations. With consistent releases on prestigious labels around the world, including Manual Music, Herzblut, & Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat, he decided to start his own label in 2011 called Grrreat Recordings. Besides founding 8day Collective and his own label, he mixes melodic bits and pieces into a soothing Van Did signature – a loopy landscape of groovy beats, little details and driving energy.

Over the last 5 years, Van Did has been playing around Canada, France, Germany, Wales, Belgium, Japan, Italy, Uk and Mexico performing on well-known festivals across the globe alongside artists such as Agoria, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Nina Kraviz, N’To, Rone and Stephan Bodzin. His tracks are played and supported by Hernan Cattaneo, Moonbeam, Deepfunk and Applescal to name a few. He has also performed in numerous local and renowned venues such as Société des Arts Technologiques (S.A.T.), Club Soda, Salon Daomé, Newspeak, Théâtre Corona, Igloofest, Piknic Electronik Montreal, and Mutek Montreal. Futur-E is back and better than ever as he casually strolls into the Tulipa gardens holding a glowing, pulsing chest emanating with colorful energy. When he puts it on top of the tiny hill in the center of the flowerbeds it explodes and five magnetic orbs of varying hues shoot into the sky, swirling around each other rapidly until together they form one hypnotic entity. As a collective they are named Chromosome, but as individuals they are known as the title track, Areopagus, Iris, and two revisions from Warren Fellow and Andy Woldman. This experience is another usual happening in the gardens and lead explorer Summer approves this release with utmost confidence.

Billow under antidepressant nightmares. Shade too green; love is vapid. Former head of the substitute department. A xeroxed novella for empty bookcase conundrums. The black hole machine awoke me from my intergalactic slumber. Force is chaste. Drill for hours and still see moonlight down there. The case of the blues was thrown to the wind as soon as a love letter landed on her windowsill. Thanks train tracks. Morbidly owed peace. Hum, mush, and a fictional crust. A silver lantern gleamed mysteriously in the alleyway right before two soldiers stepped foot inside the cavernous banquet hall. Quantify your alien status. Needlepoint suction suspense.
