Welcome to the 37TH release for @PuzzleProjectsMusic brought to us by Japanese Artist LeftHandSoundSystem and British producer and label boss @BenSpaldingOfficial.

PuzzleProjectsMusic continues its unorthodox journey in dance music with the strong diversification of its discography. The label's rapid growth, particularly in the last 18 months, has deliberately been by not following trends, whilst championing experimental and dancefloor-ready jams.
 
The latest release - designed for crazy and hazy afterhours, is the lovechild of label head Ben Spalding and Japanese Artist LeftHandSoundSystem AKA Ken Aoki. The pair started these creations back in 2021. After some time away from the arrangements, the EP rapidly came together in recent months. 
 
Ken and Ben have boldly indulged their penchant for the leftfield, odd sounds, and unusual samples to create two distinct cuts that wildly blur the lines between minimal, electronica and tech house music.
 
‘SWEET LIES’ kicks off the EP – the track, strongly inspired by a real-life traumatic life situation teases in expertly through its throbbing funk-infused b-line, along with a range of percussive elements that feel as though they’ve been played live. A soulful, haunting vocal floats in and out, while hypnotic elements pull you into their auditory orbit. The breakdown introduces a thought-provoking woozy spoken-word dialogue featuring two legends in deep, meaningful talk. This extended breakdown adds to the track’s mesmerising appeal and leads us into the latter part of the track, which continues to unleash that ultra-Funkadelic bassline.
 
On the flip, ‘ANIMAL’ – specifically designed to be a slow, winding, sleazy after-hours set opener, creeps in with crunchy kicks and hats, ushering us in via a powerful bassline with a sensual female vocal sample via long-term French collaborator of Ben’s Marie Berson, who orders us to “Get to the dirty groove… the filthy, dirty groove” - further female and male vocal clips come via British vocalist Megan Laura.
 
Unsurprisingly, the low end is exactly that, taking us into the depths of deep, subterranean frequency. The duo utilises the weird-and-wonderful arrangement to introduce segues, warped samples and vocal clips from Ben - making this a mind-melting composition. Steel yourself for the air-raid siren-driven breakdown towards the end. Massive late-night, dark-lit afters vibes.
 
Spalding’s well-known and loved knack for delightful and provocative storytelling is strongly evident in both productions, paired with Ken’s obsession for strong percussive elements and rhythm makes for a magical collaboration.
 
Stay locked in for the final release on PuzzleProjectsMusic until 2024 – the explosive ‘NO SLEEP’ EP showcasing the dynamite partnership of Mexican Dan Ros and Ben Spalding, supported with a brilliant remix from Fabric club (London) regular and rising talent Jake Beautyman.

Dive into the immersive world of "Sushi", a melodic techno creation that strikes a harmonious balance between ethereal melodies and compelling rhythms. Crafted meticulously in the renowned Ableton Live 11, "Sushi" stands as a testament to the seamless fusion of cutting-edge software and tactile hardware, converging to birth a soundscape that is both captivating and uplifting.

At the heart of this track, the VSTs Spire and Dune 3 weave an intricate tapestry of sound, producing melodies that dance effortlessly above the solid foundation laid by Kick 2. Serum, with its expansive sonic capabilities, adds layers of depth, creating an atmosphere that's both haunting and invigorating.

The distinct character of "Sushi", however, is brought to life by the hardware it employs. The enigmatic tones of the Arturia Microfeak merge seamlessly with the rich textures of the Novation Mini Nova, crafting a backdrop that's ethereal yet grounded. The inclusion of the Behringer TD3 is a masterstroke, infusing the track with classic acid 303 elements that provide a nostalgic nod, paying homage to techno's illustrious past.

The influences of techno maestros Anyma and Tale of Us are palpable. Their hallmark atmospheric touches and deep, resonating rhythms have been harmoniously integrated, ensuring "Sushi" is not just another track, but an experience—a journey that carries listeners across vast sonic landscapes. And driving this journey forward is the track's commanding bassline; fat, robust, and undeniably catchy, it serves as the anchor, grounding the ethereal elements while propelling listeners into a state of trance.

"Sushi" is a melodic odyssey, inviting listeners to close their eyes, feel the beat, and let themselves be carried away by its warm, uplifting currents.
