I had been wanting to explore the Latin space for a while, and this song, melodic, soothing, yet fierce, was exactly what I was striving for. In an increasingly saturated electronic music landscape, there’s something captivating about a track that comes together almost by accident, yet stands out with a clear, confident identity. That’s the case with “Often”, a track born during a daytime studio session, sparked by a spontaneous groove from a Moog bass. From that moment, the direction was set: intentional minimalism and a groove that just works.

The track came to life over two focused sessions — a nine-hour creative marathon followed by a tighter four-hour wrap-up. But what makes “Often” especially compelling is its stripped-back approach: fewer than 30 stems, a lead synth with subtle Middle Eastern flair, and drums that hit just hard enough to own a peak-time main set.

One standout anecdote shows how studio “accidents” can lead to breakthroughs: the main kick was accidentally muted for nearly an hour. In the meantime, the track was built entirely around the bass. When the kick finally returned, everything clicked — like the last piece of a puzzle. The moment was a powerful reminder of the importance of negative space in production — sometimes the absence of a sound shapes the track more than the sound itself.
