The Stars of the Night

In 1991 I walked into my first rave in the UK and everything changed from there. The futuristic sounding music, the lasers, the friendly crowd - it was so exciting and fresh. Fast forward 30 years and I am still in love with electronic music and the music today just keeps evolving every year. So here is a special mix of new drum and bass tunes all heavily influenced from the golden era of the 90s UK rave scene. Each track is either a remix of a classic or takes the sounds of that era and uses them in new ways. MCs on the mic, people blowing their horns, pirate radio and big rave sounds from pianos to big synths.... Will follow this up with a mixtape of the original tunes which defined the golden era or UK rave.

Disquiet Junto #0636 has us creating one part or layer of a three-part asynchronous collaboration. 

I tried to provide an interesting rhythmic layer (93bpm, 3/4 time) and some minimal atmosphere with the guitar (St Vincent Music Man 6-string, Eventide H9 Harmonizer, Keeley HALO delay pedal). 

The samples are taken from episode 123 of the radio drama The Shadow, titled "The Tenor with the Broken Voice," which aired on June 5, 1938. The samples are intended to prompt or inspire a collaborator with an interesting dramatic premise.

I'm happy to share stems, samples. or Logic files with anyone who'd like to build with this.
