African Feminist Standpoint iSSUE #4; I am Woman

This podcast is the product of a conversation that was hosted by the Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL) on the 28th of September 2017. The webinar titled 'An Autonomy & Abortion Webinar: Demanding full control over our bodies and our lives', invited activists from the Democratic Republic of Congo (The DRC), Kenya and South Africa to share their experiences and insights on the situation for women seeking and receiving abortions in these countries. 
This podcast looks specifically at stigma, and how it manifests in these countries and ideas for movement building and advocacy around better access to safe, legal and affordable abortion services for women in The DRC, Kenya and South Africa. 
Featuring on this podcast are:
Françoise Mukuku Mwamba Malale: a human rights activist and an independent consultant on gender issues. She is the executive director of Amazone consultancy, a gender justice and communications firm based in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo(RDC).

Melissa Wainaina: is a queer African feminist and gender activist based in Kenya. She currently works in CREA, www.creaworld.org, a Delhi-based feminist international women’s rights organization. Her role is overseeing and implementing the regional work in advancing women’s rights particularly around the intersections of gender and sexual rights.

Vania Kibui: is a lawyer by training, and an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and an MPPA candidate. She is a Policy Advisor at Ipas Africa Alliance her focus is policy advocacy and strategy, lobbying, treaty monitoring and reporting, mobilization and coalition building, and media communications and advocacy on SRHR.

Vikar Singh: currently heads the Sexual and Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS committee at the South African Medical Students Association (SAMSA), is a steering committee member at the Sexual and Reproductive Justice Coalition (SRJC) and is part of the Scientific Committee of the African Society of Sexual Medicine (ASSM).
