"Strange Brew" takes listeners on a cosmic journey with sizzling hi-hats, echoing bird songs, and an irresistible groove that makes time fly. Closing the EP is "Styte," a meditative percussion jam that mesmerizes with its intricate rhythms and elusive meter.

The Brighton-based producer and creative mastermind, @Caldera-caldera, lets us delve into his multi-faceted personality with his new EP, 5D Worlds. No VR set needed, Caldera follows the chant of the sirens and the shamanic incantations but never directly references them: a psychoactive journey without the psychedelics. Caldera’s 5D Worlds is a hyperreal ride, from his signature dubby grooves to his lesser known Tech-Trance whopper fantasies – As the BPM evolves, the sound designs morph and the gentle percussion give way to sonar-like synths and binary rhythms. The first collaboration between two label heads, Alfred Czital of Harmony Rec. and Vand of Isotoop, brings four excellent dance floor stompers across the spectrum, from infectious breaks on the A side to pure techno energizers on the B side.

"Wuwuwu" is a delightful halftime journey that effortlessly blends hypnotic rhythms with a highly infectious bassline. The track's undeniable charm lies in its ability to transport listeners to a cosmic dancefloor filled with positive energy. Czital and Vand masterfully intertwine cosmic synth sound with a groove that's impossible to resist, making "Wuwuwu" an instant earworm. This track exemplifies the E.P.'s versatility, setting the tone for a release that navigates seamlessly between breakish beats and energetic techno.

"Twice Lived is a series of reactions. I’d like to say this album has meaning behind it, a purpose that once thought has now been achieved in this final form, but the truth is I had no intention with any of it. I would start with a sound I liked and use that as a base to create more as a response to the initial. This cycle could go on and on until the original sounds vanished into thin air. Why do I like some sounds and hate others? Why does this switch from day to day? Every element of every song has been some sort of subconscious answer to the former, to my external life, either by mimicking inspirations and emotions, or directly opposing them. Like a series of diary entries on the same page, written over the top of each other, this is a tangle of reactions morphed together over the course of 2 years."

https://soundcloud.com/tammohesselink Tammo Hesselink debuts on Berlin's Midgar with "Work Work Work", showcasing 5 techno cuts in his distinct stripped-down style. He expertly links the dots within mesmerizing drum grooves, tied together by subtle imperfections. Wonky rhythms layered with loads of sub and razor sharp twitches could be seen as a blueprint for Hesselink's productions. Excellent percussive club tools for playful DJ sets, where tools as we know them could be flat and loopy, in these jams there's a whole lot more to explore.

Tammo Hesselink - Work Work Work [snippets]

Now in its tenth year, Frankfurt-based record label Die Orakel has earned itself a strong catalogue of classy releases in a distinct sonic and visual attitude, its latest being a compilation called Braindance. 

A fair assumption about Braindance as a genre could be, that it's rather in the zone of kaleidoscopic and whimsical quirktronica, less about IDM's futurist tropes. From Die Orakel's point of view, its very own Braindance compilation marks the label's tenth anniversary by releasing an intense listener's atlas, to its own and their creative collaborators' musical slant of mind.

While much could be said about spectral traces of a leftfield past, nostalgia isn't heard anywhere. The more you listen to this selection, the deeper the tracks plug into your brain—stretching from ethereal harmonic licks rippling with fragile glitches, bleepy to bass-heavy electroid steppers of any BPM range, to abstract-scientific neo-modular artistry.
