Paris based artist Shcaa returns to his Placidum imprint this May with the four-track ‘Neptune’ EP, showcasing his abstract twist on contemporary electronic music.
Over the past decade Shcaa’s works have found a home on the likes of Sharingtones, Automatic Writing, Blank Slate and Apollo among others, his signature sound encapsulates intricate layering, dynamic details and subtle nuance all the same. Here with
this new EP and the continuation of his fledgling label, Placidum, Shcaa expands on his roots and long standing relationship with club music, while also unveiling a hidden substance beyond the dance factor through musical experimentation.
Opening the EP is ‘Her Conscious Drift To Neptune’s Frozen Reliefs’, a haunting slice of micro tinged house fuelled by a jazzy rhythm, modulating synth melodies, wandering bass tones and expansive atmospheric swells. ‘Leviatano’ follows next and wanders into dubtinged territory via an amalgamation of stab sequences, hazy textures, shuffled percussion and hypnotic vocal chants.‘Where Have We Met’ follows next to open the latter half of the release, seeing Shcaa sonically diverge into a melancholic ambient world through unfurling synth lines, plucked psychedelic strings and processed voices. Title-cut ‘Neptune’ then rounds out the EP, a billowing excursion through bubbling synth flutters, swaying echoes, spiralling dub echoes and metallic flutters. This release resonates with several of the artists’ endeavours /obsessions. An aquatic quality both in the poetic imageries and evolving structures. A tension encompassed between the memory and the now.

Archipel Musique is excited to introduce you to a new podcast by an artist from Austria: Siili.


siili, whose real name is Oliver, is a DJ and producer based in Vienna who has been creating music for almost 15 years. Born in Vienna, he has constantly developed musically over the years. Originally starting with deep and tech house, he has increasingly developed musically and personally in a more minimalist direction since his early 30s. Jazzy and especially organic tracks from the Micro House / Minimal House genres with a strong Romanian, but also dark touch are nowadays his favorite way of playing in longer sets. Today, extensive tension curves clearly have priority over danceability and high-energy. The same character is also present in his productions. Although he is now in his mid-30s and has a small family and dances at numerous other parties alongside his music, electronic music and its scene continue to have a consistently high priority for him. The vinyl lover is still regularly active as a DJ for Grätzlsound and other collectives. He is also the mastermind behind the "Hör Ma Sich" listening sessions, which he passionately organizes and hosts and which were initiated with Grätzlsound in the summer of 2022. So anyone who thinks you slow down in your thirties - you've been proven wrong.

Siili and Grätzlsound have inspired the Montreal equivalent of Sweet Spot, started by Pheek in 2024.

Born, raised and keepin’ it real in the greater San Francisco whereabouts, Caley has spent the last 24 years preferring to lurk in the shadows with DJing (something about the sun getting in the way of a good time, etc, etc). Despite best efforts of low-key self promotion, having a weekly internet radio show known for its use of wacky space cats in its artwork inevitably raises a few eyebrows (and ears) toward remembering. That and two decades worth of record collecting combined with an unhealthy obsession for playing sets longer than 6 hours in tandem with regular travels to Denver/Detroit/Pittsburgh for both friends and gigs alike probably amounts to some semblance of “hey this DJ could be interesting to listen to.” That previous extremely long run on sentence was on purpose.
