We welcome you our third contribution to our mix series by New York's very own- Lloyd (@enterthelloyd).  Lloyd has been a favorite here at Homage and just about everywhere. He can be seen playing in various clubs and spaces in New York such as Magick City, Good Room, Public Records, and can be heard regularly on The Lot Radio. His music taste ranges from..… well…. everything you can think of. Lloyd plays it all and is a perennial wild card! We were able to meet up with him during our trip to New York and got the opportunity to ask a few questions about his musical roots, influences, and DJ’ing.

And now, a little bit of JAZ

John Zahl, also known as JAZ, is a DJ and record collector based in New York, USA, well-known for his eccentric edits and oddball mixes. We managed to connect with John after he'd arrived back in NYC after a few months spent travelling.

His mix, which was actually recorded nine years ago for Sanpo Disco on NTS Radio, features many of his all-time favourite records. He tells us these are songs that he still loves, and which remain in constant rotation. We'd like to mention a few of the tracks, starting with the lovely slo-mo/Italo disco record 'Non Ricordo, Ma Piangendo', B-side of a rare 7" by Giancarlo Aspromonte. Pit Troja's 'Der Voodoo Mann' from 1985 can only be described as German hip-hop over a Moroder-esque bass-line, wonderfully eccentric, as advertised! The late great Björn Holm's 'Tid At Stå Stilla' from his 1984 LP Bortom Gränsernas Hav, takes us into Swedish synth-pop territory. The mix features a few of JAZ's own edits, including 'Cloud Worship' which has to be one of our favourite edits of all time, just superb. This is an exceptionally well put-together mix, and despite the wide range of material, it flows perfectly and naturally, as a good eclectic mix should do.

Brennan is a good pal, a fellow BMX enthusiast, and a terrific DJ & Producer. He was a natural for a first guest. In true fraternal Irish style Brennan broke my balls, but also graciously
helped with some of the arduous setup issues for this undertaking. He left with my studio keys (!), but also gave me the complete episodes of “Trailer Park Boys”, one of his native land’s
greatest cultural contributions. Special thanks to Tariq Abdus-Sabur and Sean Brennan for all their help on this, and for putting up with me & BG. "The idea was to play some of the tunes that I enjoyed most through the summer months and to capture that feeling again as we are moving into autumn. I meant to finish the mix a few weeks ago in time for the last summer days, so let’s hope we get an Indian summer in Europe. I’ve had a string of edits come out recently on the amazing new @SmuttyEdits label as well as Duca Bianco and a 10 year-old Reggae-Disco edit is coming out on a local Berlin label in the not too distant future as well. I’ll be in Istanbul in late October / early November to play at @Arkaoda and a couple other places with Venus Exotica - looking forward to it."
