Club Party Function (Mimi Zima Remix)

This month's edition of 'One Nation Under A Groove' features Seattle-based DJ, Calico (@calicosea).

Calico has been DJing dance floors at clubs, concert venues, and parties around Seattle & the PNW since 2013.

He independently produces, hosts, and curates Bad Idea, a party that has become a mainstay of Seattle nightlife. Bad Idea has hosted some of the best DJs along the West Coast, as well as DJs worldwide from Taipei to Sydney to São Paulo. It just returned from an LA debut in May and is making a return to Portland on July 12 at Kolectivo.

He also regularly releases dance edits and remixes on his SoundCloud (soundcloud.com/calicosea/sets/calico-tracks) and Bandcamp (calicosea.bandcamp.com), fusing elements of Baltimore Club, House, Breaks, and Jersey Club into playful tracks with DJs and dance floors in mind.

Based in Seattle, Calico makes and plays cheeky club tracks 😸 Though only producing music in earnest since 2022, he's been DJing dance floors at clubs, concerts, and parties across Seattle & the PNW since 2013. He brings an eclectic, cheeky, and chameleonic flavor to the DAW and the decks, playfully blending elements of Baltimore Club, Jersey Club, Electro & more into energetic tracks with dance floors in mind.

He recently released "Clubs Partys Functions," a remix EP of his original track, "Club Party Function," featuring five remixes from five collaborators and bastions of the club (and party and function): Mimi Zima, Boxy Fit, BRANDON, onlytom, & Ca$h Bandicoot.

Calico also throws Bad Idea: a nomadic, Seattle-based dance party celebrating and incubating community, dance floors, & global club music. A mainstay of Seattle nightlife, Bad Idea has been host to some of the best DJs from around the world: from Seattle to LA, from São Paulo to Taipei 😈💡
