‘Anita’ is a heartfelt tribute to her childhood neighbor and grandmother figure. ‘This song is a story of her life, legacy and impact on not only my life but my neighborhood and community’. After Anita’s passing from dementia, Calista was devastated that she never had the chance to say goodbye. ‘2 years ago, I found out that my beloved neighbor passed away. It was like losing a third grandmother, and I didn’t know how to grapple with that kind of loss’. The only way she knew how to cope was through writing this in her memory.
