This mix stays at 160 bpm throughout, and highlights many of my favorite elements of dance music — lots of fast, syncopated drums and breaks paired with lush ambient pads, fun vocal samples, and crispy sparkly textures. The mix contains a lot of footwork and jungle, but also includes some speedy acid techno, house, bass, and IDM tracks.

Mengze (fka dj doge mli) is a Brooklyn-based DJ, producer, and party organizer. They love playing a wide range of music, but especially love to keep it at 160. Their party, sweethearts club, celebrates the QTBIPOC community and aims to be a kind and nurturing space. One day there will be popsicles for everyone at the party.

Over the past year, lex/j has set foot in five continents, inevitably drawing inspiration and sounds from each. She gravitates towards deep, acid and rolling sounds, whether they be within the House music realm, or the occasional peak-time techno. the common denominator? some type of shoulder-moving groove. Lex hosts the radio-broadcast short-mix series LSDJ! 

'In the past winter months I have been digging into quite obscure and dark tunes, which has been fun and valuable... but now that spring has arrived (and as a fundamentally groove sensation seeker), it was time to bloom in a merrier flower field. In this mix, I focused on overlapping tracks and keeping it dynamic while staying within my sweet spot of 130-135 bpm.'

"The track finally clicked once I had a clear goal: to complete it in time for @shorlax 's Daydreaming show on Kiosk Radio—a special edition featuring music from the artists performing at his upcoming event in Brussels, where I was among the lineup.

I used a sample I cut and processed about five years ago, but unfortunately I can’t remember the author. I only remember it was a Japanese sound designer or musician, probably that track was for an ad, though I could be mistaken. If anyone recognizes it, please let me know so I can give proper credit."
