linger for a moment is the first own radio show of Leipzig-based artist OLIV (@oliviapaula). In this show, she follows a (musicological) approach that already runs through many of her previous guest mixes for other radio stations. within an episode of the show, for example, a theme, an artist, a genre, a precise moment, a certain interplay of different areas, a specific question, etc. is to be examined more closely. this can be done in many different ways, such as purely musically, by using different voice and field recordings, or through a musical dialogue between two people. linger for a moment is therefore not limited to the field of electronic and electro-acoustic music, but covers a wide variety of genres.

Klix is a talented DJ and producer originally from Heidelberg, grew up in Frankfurt am Main and is now based in Berlin. sianza is part of the team behind Munich's Radio 80000, where she hosts her bi-monthly show Commitment Issues which focuses primarily on listening music. Outside of the radio she mingles in between the likes of House music rooted in the 80s to early 90s and Disco mostly from the US.

After a much too long summer break, linger for a moment is finally starting a new season. There couldn't be a better guest for the season opener than Deslin Ami Kaba, who has made quite some waves with her EP released this spring. 

Deslin Ami Kaba, who comes from Halle an der Saale, discovered her love of music at an early age and has since honed her skills in the youth opera choir. The young singer moved to Erfurt for her studies and discovered her passion for jazz, soul and R&B there. Since then, she has been an integral part of the Erfurt music scene and delights her audience with her extraordinary voice and captivating performance.

In this episode she will of course play her own tracks, but also some tracks that have influenced her in her work and have shaped her sound so far.

In the second hour OLIV jumps in last minute and plays a small selection of some older liquid Drum n Bass tracks. As a subgenre of Drum n Bass, liquid Drum n Bass is characterised by the multi-layered use of harmonies, melodies and atmospheric sounds and contains many influences from the musical genres of Jazz, Soul, Funk, Blues and Ambient.

musician and a music teacher. From 2014-2019, she studied jazz trumpet at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. Since then, she has performed in many jazz (Leon Plecity's Extraordinary Machine, T.P.C.M.), Afrobeat and Hip-Hop projects (HYPNAGOGIA) and also as a member of Rundfunk Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld of ZDF Magazin Royale with Jan Böhmermann. During the pandemic, Tjong Ayong began to dedicate herself to electronic music as a producer and DJ. She released her debut in electronical music in February 2023 on Sound Of Berlin and played her first DJ-gigs at Jaki Cologne, Orangerie Berlin and as part of festivals of Jazzclub Leipzig.

miszo is a Berlin-based DJ and radio host. After years of working in the music industry, Miszo started to research and explore the field of House music. Her style can be described as dreamy and rhythmic, with a focus on storytelling, piano and percussion, combining house music with breaks and acid, while drawing inspiration from the sounds of the early 90s.

In her monthly radio show, Ordinary Wednesday, on Refuge Worldwide Radio, she seeks out the latest ambient and experimental releases. Alongside her cohost, Deniz, she invites people from the cultural sphere to discuss their projects, interesting reads, places, and everything else that keeps us moving in our day-to-day lives.

MTV: EXTREME - Alpine Chills & Glacial Beats

For this Linger For A Moment episode, OLIV played a two-hour special from an MTV compilation released in 2001 that she discovered while digging a while ago. ‘MTV:EXTREME - Alpine Chills & Glacial Beats’ is a compilation consisting of two CDs which, as the title suggests, has more of a wintry theme and contains a total of 37 tracks. However, these are quite something and can of course also be perfectly enjoyed in the sunshine. Whilst the tracks cover a wide range of genres, including Trip Hop, Breaks, Techno, Ambient, Progressive House and Downtempo one major drawback is of course that the artists on the compilation are mainly white dudes and you can hardly find any FLINTA* people - but that seems to be a thing with many releases (to this day). Still, OLIV wants to make a small two-hour exception and give you a selection from the compilation.
