For this edition it will be necessary to cross the Atlantic Ocean, towards French lands. We’ll visit the City of Light to bring a distinguished and timeless curatorship that circulates through different genres of world music.

Our guest for the 12th edition is the french Simon de Forni, also known as Souldade. Paris-Based DJ, your sets navigates across eras and genres to unearth overlooked tunes. His edits and mixes carry you away to forgotten dream places, from sunbathed exotic poolsides to moist outmoded clubs. 

Travelling back and forth between his native Europe, Africa, Brazil, American cities and other Caribbean islands, the motto remains unchanged: move you and make you move.

“To bring back the heat before summer and prepare bodies for sweaty endless nights, i’ve cooked a lascivious downtempo set, mixing warm R&B slows, lovers rock anthems, italo oddities, spicy boogie burners, and Brazilian ballads, as a shout-out to the TropiCals folks.

While recreating this outdated atmosphere he loves so much, i wanted to give it the same special taste Carioca streets left in his mind when he visited them a few years ago.”

Para essa edição será necessário atravessaremos o Oceano Atlântico em direção às Terras Francesas. Visitaremos a Cidade de Luz para trazer uma curadoria distinta e atemporal que circula por diversos gêneros da música mundial. 

Nosso convidado para a 12a edição é o francês Simon de Forni, mais conhecido pelo nome Souldade. Residente em Paris, seus sets navegam por eras e gêneros musicais para descobrir melodias desdenhadas. Seus edits e mixes levam você a lugares de sonho esquecidos, de piscinas exóticas para banhos de sol até clubs antiquados com resquícios de mofo. 

Viajando entre sua terra natal, Europa, África, Brasil, cidades americanas e outras ilhas do Caribe, o lema permanece o mesmo: mexa-se e faça você se mexer. 

“Para resgatar o calor antes do verão europeu e preparar os corpos para noites infinitas e suadas, preparei um set Downtempo sensual, misturando slow R&B’s para aquecer, hinos de Rock amorosos, esquisitices do Italo, Boogies apimentados e fervorosos, e algumas canções brasileiras como um aceno para o público TropiCals. 

Ao recriar essa atmosfera atemporal que tanto amo, quis entregar o mesmo sabor especial do gosto que as ruas cariocas deixaram em minha mente, quando visitei há alguns anos atrás a cidade.”

Last January's Diogo @Strausz 7" Emancipacao was one of the stand-out moments of 2021. Now @razor-n-tape and Diogo have revisited the release this time on 12" with extended versions of both tracks from the 7". Taking things a step further they have also drafted in Chicago legend Ron Trent on remix duties for Emancipacao taking this one off to the finest club floors in 2022 and well beyond.

To celebrate the release we asked Diogo to lay down a mix for our selectors series and he has created a magnificent entry for the series combining classic 80's electro, soulful house, funk and party Latin with house bubblers. It's everything that we love about djing effortlessly crossing many genres.

Ricardo Paris is a Portuguese-born DJ / record collector based in London. Since the young age of 13, music and record collecting have always been a big part of his life – records were always around the house and playing on his dad’s old Pioneer record player. But it is not until ’95 that Skateboarding, Hip-hop culture and all the jazz/soul sampled tracks became a love in his life and a deep inspiration within his eclectic DJ sets. 

For our October in-store, London DJ and collector Ricardo Paris came through with a selection of Brazilian gems and Latin grooves.

To commemorate Tony Allen's passing last Thursday and celebrate his infectious drums sound, we share today the official solo track of his drums take on @sebastien-tellier cult song "La Ritournelle". 

Tony Allen was a maestro. His torso wouldn’t move when he played the drums. He never hit hard, his speciality was extreme subtlety. He played the drums on "La Ritournelle" in one take, then he had to pick up his kid at school!

Buscando trazer luz às diferentes formas de sons quentes através da música tupiniquim, caribenha, latina, oriental, africana e outras abaixo da linha do equador, trazendo suas riquezas e histórias escondidas. desenvolveram uma curadoria mesclando inúmeras vertentes da música eletrônica às diferentes sonoridades solares.

Constantemente em transformação através da busca por joias relegadas pelo tempo, encontraram o tempero ideal na junção do brasil a tropicalidades não nacionais para entregar sua formula final. Influências trazidas do ítalo, kwaito, zouk, boogie, afro, grooves, disco, house, synth pops, entre outros fizeram com que fosse possível lapidar ainda mais a identidade da dupla em algo que torna o brasil tão único: a pluralidade.
