For our final record of the year, we turn to Glasgow's man of the year - Denis Sulta.

Like a good chunk of the Numbers family, he has earnt his stripes working at the coalface of techno aka Rubadub. He has crafted two excellent twelves for our bare-chested cousins at Dixon Avenue Basement Jams and is beginning to carve himself out a reputation as a DJ of some repute, expertly blending in the bangers with Sulta-certified weirdness. Denis is part of a new wave of Glaswegian artists who are doing amazing things and whose music is continuously exciting us.

‘It’s Only Real’ created by Sulta during a burst of inspiration one Sunday, takes us back to a time when techno was intricately melodic but still kicked hard in the club. Made with only the purest of intentions and a dedication to the art of moving heads and feet.

The extraordinary prolongation of sound jerked Polly’s pretty head away from her work at the calibration machine. Today’s jobs had seen her at her thorough and meticulous best but as afternoon melted easily into evening, these latest reverberations meant she’d no longer be able to focus to the level required. Her boss had just dropped The Bomb. 
As her ear drums filtered the noise, the technician’s bright mind was flooded with delight, her eyes no longer felt dry and tight with concentration; she was caught riding the crest of a massive wave of admiration. 
Sitting her specs on the desk and pushing herself off the comfortable heat of her work stool, Miss Filla let the soundwaves pull her to her feet and carry her off to the main source of the captivating music.
In honour of Dixon Avenue Basement Jams spending four years at the forefront of the global electronic music scene a new release was planned to shake the foundation to the very core. Techno wizard Big Miz had been charged with delivering the goods and by the Gods, the Glaswegian had cracked it! He’d created, not just new tunes, but a whole new fucking genre. 
Polly could feel the vibrations pulsating through every part of her curvaceous body as she sashayed along to the seductive beat.
Undoing a hair clip with a swift, deft movement, a powerful shake of her neck had her long black shiny mane falling freely down to her shoulders. Her white lab coat fell to her ankles along with her pencil skirt and she stepped out of them ripping off her blouse as she did so. Off too came her lace bra and the clumsy constraints of her office stilettoes. Finally, she slipped off her white panties, and in a move worthy of a French cancan dancer, kicked them far across the room. 
Polly’s black stocking soles left slight sweat marks on the stone floor of the laboratory as she padded nearly naked towards the master of ceremonies. She could barely contain herself as she gazed at Big Miz’s massive, throbbing pink 12 incher; the source of the magic.

Seth Troxler’s agenda setting Play It Say It label is back with another massive release, this time coming from a group of Detroit heavyweights. Featuring a lead track from Andy Toth & Billy Love, it is packed with essential remixes from Chuck Daniels, Andrés & Midnite Jackers.

Andy Toth was part of Detroit Grand Pubahs and Billy Love is a singer from Detroit who added vocals to seminal tracks by Underground Resistance. Together they have help their city’s electronic music earn its enviable reputation on the world stage, and here Billy tells a story informed by his time as a male revue dancer at a legendary strip club called Watts Club Mozambique.

The standout original here, which had a low-key release a few years ago, ’Thrillseekers,’ is an off-beat house number with fresh synth stabs and popping drums that come with steamy vocals. It’s future facing and soul infused and is the sort of characterful cut that will mark the highlight of any set.

Up first with the remixes, Sample Recordings main man Chuck Daniels shows off his Detroit credentials with a driving and late night, smooth and seductive take that is filled with warm machine soul. Pre-release this classic Detroit groove has been getting lots of support from Eats Everything, Riva Star and Seth Troxler.

The second sizzling remix comes from Detroit’s Andrés, a key artist on Moodymann’s Mahogany label who has put out three seminal albums as well as many killer jams on his own La Vida. His hip hop indebted style is here in all its glory once more, with loose and rough drums jammed out on an MPC and interwoven with gorgeous jazz chords and a noodling bassline.

Already released and doing lots of damage on worldwide dance floors, the Midnite Jackers remix is nearly eight minutes of rough and ready, attitude riddled house with fat bass, rude vocals and a wonky feel that will add plenty of freakiness to any party. This is a Detroit heavy single featuring some of the Motor City’s finest talents, and is set to be one of the big record of the summer without a doubt.

Regal strikes back on Involve Records with a brand new collaboration, this time with Acid head Milton Bradley a.k.a. Alien Rain. The record is another piece of the puzzle, where the label boss continues his exploration of the Techno universe with the help of artists that inspire him. The 24th release of Involve Records sees Regal and Bradley go deep delivering hypnotic 303 basslines and hammering percussions that point directly to the dancefloor, with chopped vocals adding tension to each cut. ‘Acid Affair’ combines the best of both producers giving birth to a renewed take on Acid Techno. The two-track EP looks back to the origins of the etiquette, without missing the freshness of both artists’ current sonic approach to club-focused music. One not to miss for quirky sound lovers.

‘Todo Avaricia’ by Reka and the duo Imperial Black Unit is the result of an immediate and natural connection forged between the three artists, through a jam session that swiftly and intuitively yielded three tracks of stylistically diverse yet demonstrably cohesive sounds. Featuring the sampled voices of Che Cuevara, Pablo Neruda and original vocals by Reka herself, the EP plays the role of an urgent call to action against political and environmental injustice, conveyed via the musical substrate of new beat, industrial and EBM, fused into a landscape of techno and undeniably constructed for the dancefloor. The EP is rounded off with a heavy-hitting remix of the title track by the prolific Umwelt, in his signature dramatic style.
