* A MiniBomb is a a concept I've been playing with for the last year. Each MiniBomb is in the same key and tempo and is very short (i.e. not a complete song, just a build-up and drop). They're useful for making interesting DJ mixes where you simply alter the order of bombs to make new remixes. I've been working in the 6A key but I'd like to have MiniBombs for every key eventually. Back to the Bass Kicks IV (Original Production DJ Mix) (FREE DOWNLOAD)

Spain's finest Colombo follows up his Big-Beat inspired 2012 album "Abandoned Factory" with "Station 21", our final release for 2013.

Colombo (Alejandro to his mum) takes us on a journey back to the early 2000s and it's burgeoning "nuskool breaks" scene, the sound that's become the breakbeat genre we know and love.  The album is a love letter to the sounds, the beats, and the vibe of the breaks scene's roots.

The album opens with title track "Station 21" with it's skippy beats and warped bassline, then elevates to higher, more club-friendly heights with the acid-fuelled "Bluish".  Colombo keeps a contemporary feel to the album too with the inclusion of "Sponging" and the dirty and driving "Drop It".

There's plenty of deeper cuts here too with the percussive, groove-laden "Four Strokes" and low-end heavy "Destruction".  Tracks like "Nu-skooling" and "Kinship" provide the more "nuskool" rollers here focussing on throbbing basslines and percussion, whilst "Induism" and "Takes The Physical" sounds like actual undiscovered classic gems from the early 2000s.

Big system tracks are well and truly present on the album too - anyone looking for something anthemic and ravey should head straight for "Come With Me" or "Classic Approach" for instant gratification via piano riffs, chopped up breakbeats and sirens galore.  

"What's Up" and "Foreplay" explores Electro while final track "Personal Belongings" keeps the bpms lower but the energy high with a 110bpm finale.

This album pays homage to all things breakbeat in all it's many facets, and there's as much here to please new lovers of the genre, whilst being evocative of "the good old days" to original breaks fans.

Germany’s iconic house outfit Milk & Sugar return with a new track for 2023 ‘Feels Like’ – a collaboration with UK DJs Killed Kassette and SKAPES and guest vocals from Detroit Blues singer Thornetta Davis.

Thornetta Davis was awarded a “Living Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Detroit Blues Society and has opened for Blues Legends such as B.B. King, Ray Charles, Etta James, KoKo Taylor, Johnny Johnson, Bonnie Raitt and more.  

Born out of the 90s UK rave scene Killed Kassette is a pioneer of house music with a remarkable resume, having worked with the likes of Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Chez Damier etc.. Skapes is a newer name from the UK underground house scene, with regular support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM and Kiss FM. 

Bright, upbeat and bouncy ‘Feels Like’ provides some much needed light to banish those January blues as Thornetta sings “It’s getting clearer, there ain’t no cloudiness in my mind.” It’s an uplifting start to the New Year with superb vocals from the Queen of Detroit Blues – Thornetta Davis, who collaborates with Milk & Sugar for the first time.

So for those of you that missed it, this set was recorded live on the Mercury Thames Cruiser at the Elite Force Boat Party in conjunction with Supatronix back in July 2010. The party was a huge, drunken success with a glorious sun-kissed evening on the Thames, a capacity boat and a FAT & thoroughly full-bodied soundtrack.

The set is a warts & all live recording (on two CDJ-800s ...ugh.... and a DJM-600 ...eek...) with idents added later, and also an additional TWO tracks added post-party to the end of the mix so it actually finishes as it was always intended to (the ship's captain cut us off 10 minutes early on the night).

It's the first live set I've put out as a Strongarm Sessions since back in the day, and the first official 'Sessions' of 2010.
