“Strays (Life in Wartime remix)” reworks the original mix, that appeared on dutch-canadian electronic music producer apaull’s December 2023 debut album, Fought & Won. This 8-track debut LP was executive produced by Abe Duque and is on the furnace room records label. This track started off as a mix created by apaull for use in his DJ sets and has now been produced as its own standalone remix track.

This track explores the proliferation of war, in the Middle East and Europe, that we now find ourselves in and offers dated but still applicable (diplomatic) solutions including : “We need to negotiate, not as victims.” 

Musically, in addition to pervading vocal samples, the track has been shortened, from the original mix, and new drum and percussion features have been added to add some groove and danceable energy.

The cover painting is by Paul van der Werf (i.e., apaull). The cover “Strays” lettering is by famed Brooklyn based artist Al Diaz (bio below). Al was selected because of his unique art and as an ode to counterculture and what should be its confluence with art. “Al Díaz's career spans five decades. At 15 he was the recognized subway graffiti artist known as "BOMB-ONE." His friendship and collaboration with schoolmate Jean-Michel Basquiat on SAMO®... (an Avant-garde graffiti project), and the iconic hip-hop record, "Beat Bop" are noted in contemporary art history. His mixed media work is shown and collected internationally. “ 


Strays (Life in Wartime remix)

2016 was a standout year for Alan Fitzpatrick, with the Drumcode stalwart racing out of the gates in spectacular fashion with the release of his fabric 87 mix. A substantial amount of high profile shows followed, including appearing at the inaugural Junction 2 festival and closing the car park to a packed-to-the-rafters-crowd at Drumcode Halloween. He returns to Drumcode with ‘Brian’s Proper Dun One’, marking his first appearance on the label since late 2016 when he remixed Moby’s seminal ‘Porcelain’.

The release opens with ‘Brian’s Proper Dun One’, a track which caused a Twitter meltdown on Alan’s profile when he first started playing it at the tail end of 2016. Loaded with sharp and pounding drums, this is an ethereal experience from start to finish and packs a real punch. It’s a no holds barred, certified main room anthem. ‘Wait A Second’ feat. mc r1bbz has been a staple of Adam Beyer’s sets of late and has been getting a lot of air time on Drumcode Radio. This rave inspired track takes a raw, stripped back approach and delivers a real killer blow. Alan sampled the vocals of mc r1bbz from an LTJ Bukem tape pack from the early 90s and the record tips its cap to early jungle raves around the M25. The release closes with ‘Trance, Init?’; A homage to Alan’s days first and foremost as a raver before he became a DJ, with his non-purist attitude when it comes to electronic music shining through. The breakdown is sure to be a hands in the air moment at festivals all over the globe this summer.

After taking the roof off 2 Misfit club events now, it seemed right for the Leeds based duo to showcase their slick Techno productions on the club's new record label. 
Paul Maddox & Rich Wakley's studio output as Spektre has continued to propel them to the upper echelons of the Techno world recently with releases on Drumcode, Tronic, Kraftek and Elevate, to name but a few. 
Lead track Gas Mask is a heavy duty slice of peak time Techno. Building atmospherics and precise percussion underpin the track while huge synth stabs and vocals samples build to create serious dancefloor destruction.
For remix duties, Misfit have drafted in Northern Irish Techno titans Loco & Jam. Their take retains all the peak time vibes of the original, but highlights their deeper, groovier style of Techno.
Completing the release is the dark and moody 'Decompression'. Stripped back to the bare essentials and as underground as it gets, the track is pounding and relentless in it's mission!

Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave imprint continues to blossom into one of the most prominent labels in the industry today, as the latest release sees the founder link up with Grammy Award Winning duo CamelPhat on a pair of massive techno tracks via the 'Kona' EP. Here Mixmag reveals the premiere of the EP's title track, a euphoric and anthemic peak-time techno cut packed with relentless energy. 

Alan Fitzpatrick had this to say on the new collaboration: “It’s always exciting for me to work with new artists and people that I think can bring a different take on things in the studio. As individual artists our styles are fairly different, and that always sparks some magic in the studio. This time round it was techno magic, in the form of 'Kona' and 'Liberation'"

The 'Kona' EP is set for release April 19.

Argentinian artist Ignacio Arfeli debuts on AnalyticTrail following his tracks and remixes on Noir Music, Odd Recordings, Kneaded Pains and Suara.

Often collaborating with I AM BAM, this solo EP features three of his original tracks, and showcases the hard-hitting style he has become synonymous with.

Blending seductive vocals with a distorted kick drum, the EP opens with “Echoes In My Mind”. Track two “True Soul” takes things deeper and darker by blending an acidic lead synth and bone-rattling percussion. Closing the EP is the frantic tension and hypnotic vibe of “SW05” to complete this full throttle EP.
