Different types of people, all beautiful in their own way, having fun together. Subliminally this song was released to celebrate to 50th year anniversary of “The Summer of Love”, the famous summer at Woodstock in 1969. The song was designed to have an east coast vibe with a west coast scene. It’s a tye dye infused party anthem. So fill up your cups, put your bikinis and knee high socks on, prepare to live your best life and turn up to turn up. You are beautiful just don’t be afraid to let loose and show it.

“Haha” is a song about the attitude, entitlement and doubt that one may receive in the pursuit of reaching their goals. It hints that the noise and chatter act as fuel to the pursuit of success. This single literally serves as having the last laugh. The laugh, which loops throughout the entire song, is directed to every skeptic along the path. The witty punchlines and obnoxious wordplay showcases Cam Carter and Van Leeuwen’s practical joker persona and is carried by a super goofy beat that is timeless in itself.

“Shadows” is about walking through the past and telling a story that is dark and seemingly forsakened by everyday society. The lyrics drag the listener through many topics that are uncomfortable to ponder and delivers a heavy bass infused vibe that stomps through the trenches of pain and sacrifice. The lyrics were written soley by Cam Carter. The beat was composed by Van Leeuwen, and Mike Gonsolin mixed and mastered the project.

“Lost in the Crowd” is a collaboration single about being stuck in another’s rat race, doing everything possible to break away from the bullshit and establishing a lane of one’s own without everyone trying to grab your coat tail, knock you off course, or hold you back. The main focus is trying to see what’s real in society and seperate it from the animated and pretentious. Most people tend to get worn down by the hate and put their dreams on hold or even quit entirely. This song is about three individuals lost in an ocean of unmotivated, toxic people. Originally, this song stemmed from three different songs, primarily sampled from an unreleased project titled “Beauty in a Battlefield”. The rest was created on the spot in the studio and recorded minutes later, finalizing an emotional gumbo of going through it to get to it.

“First Date” is a song about a guy working up the courage to ask a girl out and then bending over backwards to win her over to only break up over and over again. It’s an internal relationship battle that allows the guy learn to love himself instead of relying and depending on the company of a woman to achieve happiness. Originally the song was written by Cam Carter to a random Youtube beat in college after a bad break up. “First Date” is the first clean single released by Cam Carter. The single was produced by Jonas Vesterburg aka Ghostwriter LA.

First Date

Cam Carter is a Memphis made lyricist and has been writing songs and concepts since he was eight years old.  After graduating The University of Mississippi with degrees in business, Cam began to see that the corporate world was not going to cut it.  Cam Carter moved to Los Angeles to make his visions come to life, starting with his debut club banger "Knee High". #turninguptoturnup
