New mix by me to celebrate my favourite time of the year, Daylight Savings, where you put your clock forward one hour in Spring.  It means we're heading into Summer, we've got longer days and more sunshine - you just can't really beat it. Hence the corny pun for the mix, 'Daylight Ravings'.
 
It's been just over 6 months since my debut DJ gig and I'm thankful all the support and bookings since then. This mix is for everyone who has supported me or taught me! 

I also want to acknowledge and thank Reuben Winter for giving me advice when I started out putting together mixes a couple years ago. It's been the most important advice that's entirely shaped what I do.  Forever grateful for his wisdom and aroha.

Daylight Ravings

Episode 2 focuses on past, present and future of the Detroit-Berlin axis. By means of an interview collage, writer and Make Techno Black Again activist DeForrest Brown, Jr., Lerato Khathi aka Lakuti (founder of Uzuri Recordings and the Bring Down the Walls initiative), Boris Dolinski (resident DJ at Berghain) and Mark Ernestus (musician and founder of the Hard Wax record store) explore how the rapid growth of techno and club culture in Germany after 1989 relates to the music’s origins in the Black neighbourhoods of the post-industrialised city of Detroit.

CLUB CHAI Vol. 2 is a collection of tracks by artists whose work truly embodies the Club Chai ethos that exists in storytelling through sound. As we close out the label, this release remains a lustrous perspective on the future.

Alongside the compilation, the Club Chai Archive book is out today on our Bandcamp. You can preorder the book alongside the digital release of the compilation for a bundled price of $35 ($15 for the compilation and $25 for the book).

The archive book is a culmination of all the moving parts that make up Club Chai at once – a way to honor the project's complexity and intimacy. A way to honor the project's complexity and intimacy. How do we remember and archive something that is really made up of a fleeting feeling? Being on the dancefloor with friends, singing in unison or zoning out in complete bliss. It feels right to create something physical that can be held, touched and encountered slowly and 
carefully. Making this book entirely with friends makes it feel even more intimate and special.
