About 150 people gathered in Langley Park on May 19, 2014 to remember 19-year-old Akinleye Warner. He was stabbed to death last week by three teens as part of a gang initiation. The mourners marched from his apartment complex to the spot he was killed for the candlelight vigil.

Vintage World War Two airplanes flew over the Potomac and along the National Mall to commemorate the 70th anniversary of "Victory in Europe" Day, bringing an end to hostilities in Europe. I watched at the Iwo Jima Memorial and spoke with two WWII veterans, 91-year-old Ralph Holdsworth (top right) and 92-year-old John Neville (bottom right).

Holdsworth flew 50-missions in a B-24 Liberator in ETO and Neville served in the Army Air Corps in ETO for, as he told me, 3 years 1 month and 4 days.

It was an honor to meet them both, and very proud that they allowed me to speak with them.
