Here is a taste of what's to come on Cameron Bruce's debut album "Damage Done".


South African audiences first came to know then 17-year-old Cameron Bruce with his stirring version of the John Mayer classic “The Hurt” in his audition for Idols 2009. This mind-blowing performance ensured a certain path of success within the competition where he worked his way up the ranks into the top 6.  Not many teenagers get the opportunity to showcase their talent and Idols provided Cameron with platform to begin making headway in his career at an early age. 

Now 21 and nearly 3 years after the reality show, Cameron with his smooth vocal style, skillful guitar work and his own striking lyrics, is set to become one of the country’s leading artists by far. Spending valuable time over the last couple of years working on his vocal, guitar and song writing crafts, and deriving his inspiration from the likes of John Mayer and James Morrison, Cameron has defined his own unique style of pop with tinges of blues. His polished approach to the delivery of his music will be reflected on his debut album, which will be released in March 2012. 

Cameron’s debut single “I Didn’t Mean To Come Around” hit radio stations in late 2011 and gave listeners and fans a hint of what great things are to come. The single achieved remarkable success having been play listed on many major radio stations and achieving an esteemed Number One status on Jacaranda 94.2’s South African chart. 

Cameron, with his good looks, mischievous sense of humour and engaging personality, has become popular amongst his fan-base and peers within the entertainment industry. “If people come to watch my show or if I meet them at a function, I take it as an opportunity to get to know them better and for them to get to know me beyond the music. Building relationships between myself, fans and music industry colleagues is very important to me".

Never shy to express his opinion and as clear as day when it comes to knowing what he wants with his music, Cameron is set to sustain his success in years to come, hopefully achieving award winning status both locally and internationally, within the next 5 years.  Cameron adheres to his mantra: “Goals, dreams and ambitions are easy – make them work!”

Spending valuable time over the last couple of years working on his vocal, guitar and song writing crafts and deriving inspiration from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Jonny Lang, Ray LaMontagne, John Mayer and James Morrison, Cameron has defined his own unique style of sophisticated music. His thoughtful approach to the crafting and delivery of his songs will be reflected on his debut album, set for release in September 2012.  The album, titled Damage Done, was co-produced with Robin Walsh, showcases Cameron’s exceptional guitar skills and vocal capabilities and shows profound maturity for an artist who is set to make a big impact on the quality of South African music.
