WaSaBi Trio is the debut album from an adventurous new ensemble featuring Walter Thompson (piano), Sam Day Harmet (electric guitar/mandola), and Billy Martin (drums and percussion). While this marks the trio’s first recorded release together, the musical relationship at its core has been developing for decades.
Walter Thompson and Sam Day Harmet have been making music together since Harmet was an infant. As Harmet’s uncle and an essential musical mentor, Thompson has collaborated with him in countless contexts—from intimate living-room sessions to concert halls worldwide. WaSaBi Trio represents their first studio album together, joined by the ever-imaginative Billy Martin.
Walter Thompson is internationally recognized as the creator of Soundpainting, the multidisciplinary live composing sign language. Having begun playing piano at age four, he has developed a deeply personal and idiosyncratic improvisational language rooted in avant-garde jazz and contemporary classical music. His influences include Cecil Taylor, Marilyn Crispell, Anthony Braxton, and Charles Ives. Thompson has recorded extensively throughout Europe, the United States, and beyond.
Sam Day Harmet brings a richly layered musical background shaped by free jazz and improvised music—including work with Walter Thompson’s and Karl Berger’s orchestras—as well as deconstructed folk traditions (Astroturf Noise — two LPs and one 7-inch released on 577 Records, and collaborations with Frank London), no wave and noise rock (Abazaba), and surf-infused psychedelia and dub (La Banda Chuska, Shabbos Ranks). These varied influences inform his distinctive, textural approach to guitar and mandolin.
Billy Martin, a cornerstone of the downtown New York music scene, completes the trio. His expansive discography includes collaborations with John Lurie, Bob Moses, and his groundbreaking trio Medeski Martin & Wood. Known for balancing exploratory freedom with a deep sense of groove, Martin also incorporates handmade bamboo instruments on this recording, serving as both an anchoring and propulsive force. He has previously released collaborative projects on 577 Records.
WaSaBi Trio delivers a vibrant, improvisation-driven sound filled with angular grooves, pan-tonal explorations, avant-psych diversions, and driving momentum. Unpredictable, bold, and alive, the album captures three master improvisers meeting at full intensity.

After six years of sonic exploration, David Croshaw and David Cooper unveil their debut album as David / David — Blame Haro, a bold collection that blurs the line between structure and spontaneity. The release also marks the British duo’s debut on 577 Records, introducing their distinctive blend of live improvisation and electronic experimentation to the label’s forward-thinking roster.
The duo’s collaboration has been forged through a shared fascination with the mutual interference between live drums and improvised electronics. Their sound balances on the edge of chaos and control, moving fluidly between danceable rhythmic momentum and moments of hectic unpredictability. The result is a dense interplay of fragmented samples, acoustic experimentation, and rhythmic overload — a sound world that’s as physical as it is cerebral.
Assembled from a series of improvised encounters recorded in Easton, Bristol in 2024, Blame Haro captures the immediacy and volatility of live creation. Each piece is both performance and process — an experiment in how sound can fold, fracture, and reconstitute itself in real time.
Released by 577 Records, Blame Haro extends the label’s commitment to boundary-pushing music and improvised sound practices. The first edition of the album will be available as a limited run of 50 CDs, alongside a digital release.

Sept artistes rendent hommage au film de zombies en imaginant l’univers sonore de La nuit des morts-vivants. Ensemble ils réécrivent une bande-son du film, qui est intégralement jouée en direct et retranscrite dans ce disque : musiques, bruitages, voix, ambiances, dialogues, sons illustratifs ou abstraits.

Ce disque, qui fait suite au spectacle éponyme proposé par l'ARFI, invitera les auditeur.ices à entrer dans un espace imaginaire qui serait tout à la fois la cabine de doublage, celle du bruitage, et l’enregistrement d’une musique originale : ils seront donc les témoins d’une recherche sonore à la fois réelle et mise en scène. Cette recherche consiste à créer un dispositif à partir d’instruments de musique, bien-sûr, mais aussi d’objets concrets qui offrent un large panel de possibilités sonores.

Les Incendiaires, trio de cuivres de l’ARFI, reviennent avec À l’Ouest, un répertoire audacieux où ils réinterprètent les célèbres compositions d’Ennio Morricone pour les films de Sergio Leone.

Composé d’Olivier Bost (trombone, percussions), Guillaume Grenard (trompette, euphonium, percussions) et Eric Vagnon (saxophones, percussions), le trio se lance dans une exploration musicale où des instrumentations minimales insufflent une nouvelle vie à des classiques comme Le Bon, la Brute et le Truand ou Pour une poignée de dollars.

La Marmite Infernale est un orchestre libéré de la plupart des règles et diktats attendus d’un big band. Elle s’attache à faire sonner un instrumentarium inédit.

Dans l’orchestre, chacun.e est tout à tour compositeur, interprète ou directeur artistique.

La Marmite Infernale est l’endroit où ses membres développent un univers expressionniste qui fait vivre ensemble free jazz, musiques traditionnelles, classiques, ou même garage punk, en laissant toujours la part belle à l’improvisation.

L’orchestre déploie un large nuancier sonore, des mélodies, des rythmes complexes, et un goût pour le chaos organisé. Une approche libre et irrévérencieuse de la musique, interprétée avec une énergie communicative.

C’est avec une nouvelle énergie composite, alliance inédite grand format entre les musicien.ne.s du collectif et des artistes invitées aux disciplines variées, que La Marmite Infernale refait corps pour son nouvel album en 2025.

Brooklyn-based pianist and composer Eva Novoa presents Eva Novoa Solo (I), her first solo piano recording and seventh album with 577 Records. Recorded at the legendary Sear Sound Studios in Manhattan, the album captures Novoa alone in the studio, embracing the artistic challenge of vulnerability, introspection, and creative freedom that defines the solo piano format.

Originally from Barcelona, Spain, Eva Novoa has cultivated her distinctive musical voice since childhood. Now firmly rooted in New York, she has performed internationally and collaborated with some of the most adventurous voices in jazz and beyond.
