🎶🇧🇷 Introducing "Todo Mundo é Brasileiro", the new mix series from Tropicana Melodia. A platform that brings together Brazilian selectors and like-minded gringos to share their favourite gems from Brazil's rich musical history, along with its influences, roots, and ramifications.

To kick things off, enjoy a 1-hour mix from Magál (@magal_tm), a founding member of our collective. This nostalgic and emotional trip through the '70s to the '90s showcases Brazil's unique sonic mosaic, cutting across genres such as Baião, MPB, Bossa, Jazz, Maracatu, Axé, Samba, and Soul. Magál's selections capture his own interpretation of Brazilian love and include tracks from some of his most cherished records, as well as originals from his family collection back home.

Enjoy this sneak peek of what to expect from Magál's upcoming set at our launch party on Sunday, 19 March at Runner Up Rooftop Bar in Naarm.

Tilt Shift sits firmly left of center, a difficult-to-label square peg that unintentionally fails to fit a pigeonhole. Borrowing from the photography term, Tilt Shift refers to two different types of movement, a selective focus with a large depth of field used to control perception. This can be applied to our music policy, tilting the vertical axis resulting in a sharp area of focus without reducing the depth of field. The selective focus that can be achieved by both tilting and shifting movements, It's compelling because the effect is different from that which you may have become accustomed to. This movement is often used to avoid the convergence of parallel lines, or as we have come to think of it, it’s where the lines blur.

A LONG, LONG WAY

Camilo has come a long way since becoming interested in dance music in the late 90s in his native Colombia. 
Since his arrival in Melbourne eleven years ago, his passion for underground music has grown. His sets blend deep base lines with different styles of techno, house, minimal and traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms. The result is a clear winner within Melbourne’s music nights.
