Christmas Mix

We (Messina) have always had loads of people asking us about the playlists and mixes we play in store. It's always been nice to hear compliments about the music we curate and to know that people are discerning enough to notice. The truth is, it's a self indulgent selection of mixes and tracks curated by a DJ that once was, but now isn’t.. ie. me.

About 5 years ago I decided to start a monthly mix series under the guise of Messina Music, essentially for people that liked what we played in store and wanted a bit more. We started off well, but like most things, life got in the way and the last mix we uploaded was, to my surprise about 3 years ago! I’d always intended to do a mix for the series myself, but it just never happened and after 9 lovely mixes we ground to a complete and utter halt.

After a super quick trip to Europe earlier this year, I unexpectedly rediscovered the joy of record shopping. Something i used to do 2-3 times a week but i’d not done for years, since the unceremonious demise of pretty much all 'new vinyl’ record stores in Sydney. I’ve never really enjoyed buying vinyl online or doing mixes using digital software, its just not my bag. I’m a bit of a luddite in that regard. As such, i haven’t done a recorded mix in over 10 years (maybe longer). Armed with some new vinyl and a ‘can-do' attitude I have finally bashed out a quick mix for your listening pleasure (hopefully). Hope you enjoy it..
