Across a collection of 5 remixes and off-cuts from the BKE sessions (including debut label appearance from R.A.), Hyphen experiments with a broader spectrum of influence, touching on Hardcore, Dubstep and 100bpm Techno. In his own words, CNP016 is simply "a wee taster" of what's to come from the 23-year old producer this summer.'

Glowing Terms (@glowing-terms) is the electronic project of Detroit-based artist Dj DeGennaro. Through his productions, mixes, songwriting & live events with post-rock band Goods, he aims to offer empowering messages of common humanity. Since releasing his debut Hold A Candle EP with @pitsdetroit, which itself is a reference to the human spirit alive in the cosmos at the dawn of machines, he continues to create art and spaces that are as challenging as they are splendid. 

In this mix Dj pays homage to the music and culture of Detroit that brought him up as well as keeping it real with dope music from PITS and artists that inspire him.

PITSCAST.037 - Glowing Terms

Configurations of Self label head Alexander Church is back with another thought-provoking techno outing, this time with standout remixes from Vincenzo.

Church has recently started a second label, Life Scripts, but with Configurations of Self, he explores everything from melodic soundscapes to industrial techno with a deep-thinking perspective. He has been ploughing his own path since the nineties, but because of his constant innovation he remains one of the scene's most interesting artists.

The superb title track opens this EP with spine-tingling deep techno. Ambient pads swirl up high while twisted synths and rubbery drums make for a propulsive, complex rhythm. Pokerflat and Dessous mainstay Vincenzo is a German artist who has been active since the nineties. He brings a wealth of widescreen perspective to his remix, which is more smooth and zoned out, with streamlined grooves sinking you into a cosmic reverie.

Church's 'Thinking & Reasoning' showcases his fine synth craft, with thin, glistening pads and more smeared chords bringing a sense of tension as you float through a starry night sky next to soulful vocal whispers that bring human tenderness. After the dub, which is a fantastic melodic techno exploration, Vincenzo offers another remix. Once again he goes deep, getting you lost amongst gorgeously pillowy synths and celestial motifs that are out of this world.

This is another high-class EP from Configurations of Self that features five deep and beautiful techno tracks.

It had seemed as if it might never come, the clouds had been absent from this part of town for ever so long and what had once been lush, dense and green had shrunk and dried beyond any sort of recognition. The summer had been brutal, long and brutal.

They had dreamed that one day the heavens might descend once again to save them all from the bitter heat which had become their tormentor.

Now, as darkness fell across the land, they watched and waited with eager anticipation for the sweet moment of release.

It was raining once again…
