01 As Time Goes By It Had To Be You

Former Miss Hawaii, Candes Meijide Gentry, is a multi-faceted renaissance woman who has attained a great level of success in a variety of business and artistic pursuits.  As an accomplished performer and recording artist, Candes has recorded and produced several CD’s under her own recording label, CMG Records,  including: A Change in Me & Come What May, both of which were nominated for Hawaii Music Awards and received great reviews. Candes’ Holiday Album, commemorating Hawaii’s 50th Anniversary of Statehood, entitled Christmas Will Find Us Wherever We Are received the honor of Best Christmas Album at the Hawaii Music Awards in 2009. 
Candes has been performing locally for over 10 years and is a regular in the local theatre scene.  Her lovely and talented voice has been heard at Diamond Head Theatre in such musicals as GiGi, Lee Cataluna’s You Somebody, Sondheim’s Follies as well as the Ilima Awards and GYPSY.  Candes’ talent as a vocalist spans many genre; recent projects include a Children’s album in Spanish & a techno/dance single both produced by Atelier 808. In addition to Classical, Musical Theatre, Children’s & Dance, Candes has also recently completed voice-over work for two upcoming indie-animated musicals and a EDM Pop album entitled Love Game. As a voting member of both the Hawaiian Academy of Recording Artists and the National Academy of Recording Arts, Candes is committed to helping raise awareness and recognition for music produced and recorded in the Islands.
In addition to her passion for the performing arts, Candes is also an accomplished triathlete & runner who has competed in seven world championship events and over ten marathons, including the Boston Marathon, New York City Marathon, Chicago Marathon and the Kona Ironman.  Candes is a Model with Niche Models & Talent and has worked as a spokesperson for triathlon, several local and national non-profit organizations, as well as hosted a series of sport related television segments. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Travel Industry Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the UH Shidler College of Business where she is a featured community leader and has developed a scholarship endowment for aspiring entrepreneurs. Candes is also a Director of Gentry Pacific, Ltd., and the Miss Hawaii Scholarship Program.
