Once you have high school firmly in your rearview, you realize the sentiment “don’t ever change,” that missive that adorned a thousand yearbooks, is bullshit. The folks you see who haven’t changed are the ones you look at with pity when you bump into them ten years later.
	Candor, one of the latest bands to hit Metro Detroit, knows this all too well. Trading in the “fuck you” naiveté of the punk bands on their resumes, members of Candor have grown and changed with life. While some bands grow into a defanged version of their past selves, Candor melds veterans of the early 00s Detroit punk and indie scenes into something more mature. Far from watered down, their sound is more akin to trading in the PBR for a barrel-aged stout—something far richer and more flavorful.
	The result is like what would happen if Bruce Springsteen grew up with …And Out Come the Wolves on repeat, 90s punk filtered through Rust Belt rock and roll, idealistic ethos through the more grounded eyes of adulthood. Candor offers something new but not alien, the old and familiar steeped in contemporary sounds.
	In the past, members of Candor have played in a variety of punk and indie bands throughout Metro Detroit. Now, with some miles on the odometer and more years of experience, Candor is hitting the ground running, churning out a sound sure to resonate with anyone who still isn’t certain where they’re going, but remembers where they’ve been.
