I wrote this song in 2019/2020
My inspiration was because I had a crush, and then I realized that I was focusing too much on wanting love and acceptance from outside of myself.  I wrote this song as a reminder that I don't need someone else to make me feel happy, loved or cared for.  Connection is wonderful, but I can't rely on someone else to fulfill my inner needs.

I Am That Person

This is about the grief of feeling unseen and realizing that the truth was I have been afraid to be seen... I've been hiding parts of myself for fear of them being seen.  These parts I've been hiding because of fear of rejection and abandonment.  
And grief... sometimes there are no words for the feelings, the grief... all we can do is cry and allow the tears fall.  And with those tears, there is freedom, there is release.  There's something very vulnerable about letting yourself be seen.  My thoughts have been "How can I truly be seen, if I have not been allowing others to really see me...all of me....the messy parts.."

Liberate Me

I wrote this today.  I was feeling inspired from the magical day/night I camped at the Thirteen Sisters Farm in Mokelumne Hill.  I left yesterday with my soul feeling nourished.  We sang and danced under the stars Saturday night.  We made up a lot of silly songs and sang to the sunflowers and to the moth hummingbirds.  I just remembered this one phrase I sang that night "beyond being human" ...it stuck with me and I really wanted to create something from that with all experience of that night.  While thinking of our beautiful planet Earth, I think of us so small and tiny in this vast universe and yet even though we are but a speck, we are something amazing.  A living breathing miracle existing right now.

Anything I write is me trying to convince myself 😆 I wrote this the week after I came back from Song Village.  Sometimes I just have to pause and be with myself.  Even if I think I'm doing well, I still like to check in from time to time.

This is a chant I made up for myself.  I like to sing it to myself sometimes in my car on my way to work. I felt inspired the other night and decided to add some keys to it and record it. (I didn't have a metronome or drum track lol hence the out of sync vocals) I had fun making it, I think that's what matters most.

I've been revisiting this audio now 5 years later after I made it ... just came back from Song Village 6/1/2025

 I made this for myself because I wanted to remind myself that I don't have to wait for others to say it to me.  And also speak positively to my body and embrace all parts .... The parts that I typically want to hide or don't want others to see.  And just really lean into all of myself.  And it's so easy to keep looking elsewhere and outside myself wanting that acceptance and approval from others.  (Not saying that I don't need connection from others because I think we do thrive on community) But to really hold myself.  And I was reminded of this .... Really holding myself at Song Village this last weekend.... Really seeing myself.  It's so easy to point out the things we think are wrong with ourselves.... It's so conditioned in our society to look first at what we are doing wrong and easily forget all the good that we are doing.  And just reminding myself...to be gentle with myself and hold myself and be ok with fucking it up sometimes.  Be ok with making mistakes and seeing them, noticing things as they arise and moving through them.  Feel them, allow it...feel the feelings all the feelings.
