This week I have a great talk with my buddy Dael Oates a writer/director who's represented by Darren Aronofsky's production company Chromista.  We do a deep dive on the Nick Cage cult film Mandy, as well as our take on GOT's dark cinematography along with side chats about Dael's early days at the animation giant Animal Logic. EPISODE 3 - Dael Oates

In Episode 4 of MR MOVIE CLUB I talk to legendary Rolling Stone writer David Felton, who actually met & interviewed Charles Manson & many of his "family" back in 1970.  

So of course we dive deep into Tarantino's new film  Once Upon A Time In Hollywood where David tells us what Quentin got right and what he didn't.  We also discuss another Manson movie that came out recently, the independent feature "Charlie Says" directed by Mary Harron (American Psycho) and written by Guinevere Turner, who consulted with David to help get the real Manson story.  

In addition we discuss David's time as one of the original writers on the classic MTV show "Bevis & Butthead."  (Huh huh!  He said butt!)

All that plus David's top Five Films of all time and more!!  What a show!!

Today's episode features writer/director, and good friend Ralph Soll.  After years writing for TV shows like Animaniacs and Power Rangers Turbo, Ralph is finishing up work on his debut feature film Cortex with a great cast indluding Rene Auberjonois of Star Trek Next Generation and Boston Legal fame.  

But mostly, as two life long film nerds, we spend this hour talking about:
Star Trek, Star Wars, Movies, TV and most of all our love for the fantastic films of the Coen Brothers.

This time to talk exclusively about the current smash hit movie JOKER staring Joaquin Phoenix, directed by Todd Phillips and quite heavily inspired by the legendary Martin Scorcece.  We get into everything this blockbuster touches on.  Art vs. Commerce, Comics vs. Cinema, Politics vs. Entertainment.  Dael has some great takes on what it all means.  A really fun conversation.
