New Year, New Jingles! We needed to update STAR 108 with a new and exciting jingle package, that echoed around the iconic Kiss 108/Boston logo. We gave our friends at TM Studios the instructions, and they gave us THE JINGLES!

Today's track is doing double duty as it was created for the 2 Hour Album Challenge (2hac) in addition to Jamuary. The idea of that challenge is to create a complete track, start to finish in just two hours. There's also a theme which this time around was 'Life'. 

I decided to create my track in a musique concrète style by using only recordings of animal noises which I found on freesound.org. This was hard as I was having to do sound design on the fly (e.g. creating a kick out of a pigeon call and a clap out of a dog bark) while also composing. 

I actually only spent one hour on this as we're going out to dinner in a minute so I might allow myself another hour tweaking it tomorrow for 2hac.

The deadline for this challenge will coincide with the anniversary of Sumitaku Kenshin’s death, so I thought it’d be appropriate to commemorate this remarkable poet with music from Naviar’s community.

Sumitaku Kenshin was a haiku poet who practiced free-form haiku. He started writing poety after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, and dedicated the last 2 years of his life to haiku, leaving 281 poems, mostly published by the free-form haiku magazine Kaishi.

If you listened to the long-running Steve Wright In The Afternoon, you'd hear Steve's pre-built 'sequences' being played out every single day. 

You know the ones I mean... the Up To News jingles at 15:00 and 16:00, the 15:03 Non Stop Oldies openers, even the Main Intro with the drum roll and the cheering fx and the Starfield closer. 

We've all heard these themes on their own, but for nostalgia's sake, here they are 'as broadcast' - yes... that means they're all EQed to Steve's liking "come on! little less bass, little more top, give me a mono down & keep the level up!!" 

P.S. AJ has already published the original versions of these themes, where you can actually hear the dynamics!! xD
