The dedication festival services, portions of which are preserved for us on this recording, were attended by 3,724 persons.  Each service was different in liturgical form.  The memorable morning service was followed, at 3:30 p.m., by Vespers, and, at 8:00 p.m., by the Office of Compline, traditionally the last or closing service of the day (from the Latin compleo, complete).
