The journey begins in the valley, where instinct guides the first steps. There is no plan, only a
feeling - to leave the car behind and follow the nearest path upwards. The trail leads through a forest drenched in moss, damp earth underfoot, and the quiet breath of pines shading the way.
It is a beginning wrapped in stillness, as if the mountain itself is waiting.

As the ascent grows steeper, the landscape opens little by little. Between the trees, sudden
windows of light reveal sweeping views of the surrounding hills, endless forests stretching
across the horizon. Each pause carries a sense of wonder, the climb itself becoming part of
the rhythm. The higher the path winds, the lighter the heart becomes, as though every step
pulls the spirit closer to something timeless.

Near the summit, a hidden cave emerges. From the outside, it seems small and unassuming - but inside, it unfolds into a vast, otherworldly chamber. Stalactites and stalagmites form silent sculptures, while the last glow of the setting sun pours through the entrance, bathing the stone in a magical light. It feels like stepping into a secret only nature can hold, a moment of awe suspended in time.

This EP carries those impressions into sound - the quiet beginning in the valley, the momentum of ascent, and the luminous mystery discovered at the peak. A translation of fleeting beauty into rhythm and tone, held like an echo of the mountain itself.

I named the cover art "The First Rebirth," one of Paul's last works.

This was mixed for our friend who left us, enduring a year of the Motor Neurone Curse and escaping the Virus.
Vision and hearing stay until the end, and my return to Paul for such wonderful paintings for us all to enjoy. Captain x

After completing Paintings Of Sound for Paul’s Flight, I wanted to go a bit darker and prepared to embark on a Techno mix style Fry Up from my collection over the years. I do miss the Techno events back in the worlds of old, with it almost non-existent here in New Zealand. 

Nine is the theme from music that this forked off from, JungleTechno. Our night of Techno was most Thursdays at Carl Cox’s Velvet Underground event in London. There are of course a few crazy Ivans in there, I am Captain, it’s expected. It includes a few unreleased Captain numbers that I felt would sit (Madagascar & G&T Rave Up, which I only ever performed live – 10 years ago now). Bootlegging, wrecking, and remixing tracks of many genres in my collection, that I felt deserved an appearance in this darker and more severe Techno Groove. I especially enjoyed salvaging and remixing the 25-year-old tracks in the last 15 mins or so, a real challenge to make these perfect tracks sit 20 bpm slower in a Techno Beat. There was also a live drum and 303 channel over this three-hour journey, and after listening through a couple of times, felt best left pure, and we save these busier skirmishes for the party!

Kaa – My first ever vinyl record was the Jungle Book, so finally I got to mix Kaa into a Techno mix 40 years later. I hope you enjoy this adventure. Hypnotising snake eyes that may change where your journey ends. ⚓

To celebrate his birthday, my good friend and superb DJ, Dan Bizaro, put together an online festival of non stop music, that lasted the whole weekend, The Shine Weekender.
It featured an array of very talented DJ's, friends, lovers and family from across the globe.
It was a mammoth event and I was honored to be part of it, I played a pure vinyl classic Pendragon set. 
It was recorded in a field in Kent, on the dashboard of my camper van, using Technics 1210's and a Numark mixer.  Enjoy. xx
