Some shit I recorded in 2006. It's very flat sounding. Equipment: Yamaha electric guitar, Peavy electric bass, Beatcraft free drum sequencer, Audacity open source recording software. No preamps. Just used an adapter from 1/4" to 1/8" and jammed the guitar cord into the microphone hole on a basic Dell (dude, I got a Dell!) The weight of the cord eventually destroyed the microphone input. Good times.
