Shaping Change

Botánica de Balcón (balcony botanics in Spanish) is the crystallisation of a long shot project by Rafa Ramos Sania and Edu Comelles. Both musicians put together strings, wood and minimal electronics on a new project born from field recordings and sonic textures. The aim is to submerge form that starting premise into sonic territories closer to New Classic, a certain experimental folk and the shredded expressiveness of the double bass, comfortably sitting on eastern tonalities and subtle winks or the Japanese Shakuhachi. Digital and tensed string songs.

I first discovered Moon Loves Honey's "Apart" EP on internet radio and was immediately drawn to their sound, a dreamy form of rock music with great attention to detail. After chatting with Jeppe, I brought up the idea of drawn out ambient mixes, "time-lapsed" versions of their songs. Fortunately, they were into the idea and the project started to unfold.

The "Balloon" remix was previously uploaded with the intention of adding it to the others once they were complete. Only the title was changed.

Special thanks to the band members for letting me play with their instruments and vocals. And also to Rasmus Bredvig, co-producer of their EP and owner of Tapetown Studio.
