Car Crash Jake started as a solo project by Jacob Assell. After crashing his car in early 2017, Jacob realized he will only live for so long, and he wanted to follow his passion for music. In summer of 2017, Jacob started performing solo but quickly wanted more. After a year he transferred to Eastern Michigan University where he met drummer Gabe Demetter, bassist Stefan Vojvodic, and guitarist Grayson Motsinger. Together they formed the new and improved indie rock version of Car Crash Jake. Everyone in the band helps book shows, run social media, and create merchandise. Outside the band there is huge support coming from Nick Grodi (website design), Elaina Davis (assistant manager), and John Varner (miscellaneous activities). They hope to drop a single by the end of 2018, and release their debut album â€œTeefumsâ€ in 2019.
