Cara has been a familiar face around the Melbourne House Music scene for over 15 years, falling in love with Classic House in local haunts such as Q Bar, 161 and Saratoga early on then quickly expanding her music taste at events such as Sunny which evolved into a love for Progressive/Melodic House and Techno.

Although not entirely new to DJ'ing having dabbled in some mobile gigs in the early 2000's, 2021 was her first year playing the music she truly loves in clubs/bars and her passion for these tunes really show through in her mixes.

So far this new venture has taken off with a bang having already cracked into the club/bar scene with regular gigs at places such as Pawn & Co, OneSixOne and The Emerson, becoming a resident for Doesn't Matter Melbourne and AATM radio UK, landing work with Silent Sounds AU, and curating guest mixes for global radio shows and local podcasts

Cara has been a familiar face on dancefloors in the Melbourne House Music scene for over 15 years, falling in love with Classic House in local haunts such as Q Bar and OneLove at POW early on, then quickly evolving her music taste into a love for Organic House and Progressive/Melodic House and Techno.

Since starting out with her first club gig in May 2021 Cara has risen quickly, now holding a residency at Onesixone (Thursday and Saturday weekly) plus fortnightly/monthly/guest appearances at the Seeing Double, Sky Disco, Warehouse 3000 and Revolver Upstairs, The Emerson and Storyville to name just a few.

Career highlights so far include:

Supporting some amazing artists such as Anthony Pappa, Low Steppa, MANDY, Lo'99, Luuk Van Dijk, MK, Sasha, Monkey Safari and Angelo Ferreri. 

Performed for DiscoBOX at both the Defected 2022 and Glitterbox 2022 Australasia tours.

Performed at Amsterdam Dance Event 2023 for an all Australian showcase.

Awarded Music Victoria's Best DJ 2023.

This month, we're joined by one of Melbourne’s most respected selectors, Cara Murphy — a standout figure in Australia’s underground scene.

Cara has held residencies at iconic venues and club nights like Onesixone and Doesn’t Matter Melbourne. She has made regular appearances at beloved spots such as Revolver Upstairs, The Emerson, and Storyville, as well as supported international heavyweights including Sasha, Monkey Safari, Mees Salomé, and Low Steppa. Cara has also performed on stages for Defected and Glitterbox tours, plus the global platform of Amsterdam Dance Event 2023.

Awarded Best DJ at the 2023 Music Victoria Awards, Cara recently stepped into production with her debut track “Dusk” on Valiant Records — a boutique underground house imprint run by Tom Evans and Jacob Malmo, under the Vicious label group.

I wanted to explore this sound as it is what I have spent the last 15 years listening and dancing to in all the usual Melbourne haunts. Have decided to withhold my usual lavish servings of cheese with this one; still a sprinkling of parmesan perhaps! Some of these artists are friends and people I regard very highly amongst this scene so I have done my best not to mess it up! All of these tracks are much loved though; many fond memories of dusty days/nights, darkened dancefloors or the scramble to find a phone to Shazam that perfect sound on a Sunday morning. Enjoy!

Cara has been a familiar face on dancefloors in the Melbourne House Music scene for over 15 years, falling in love with Classic House in local haunts such as Q Bar and OneLove at POW early on then quickly evolving her music taste into a love for Progressive/Melodic House and Techno.

Since starting out with her first club gig in May 2021 Cara has risen quickly, now holding multiple weekly and monthly residencies including Onesixone (Thursday and Saturday weekly) and makes regular appearances at Seeing Double, Sky Disco, Warehouse 3000, The Emerson and Revolver upstairs to name just a few.

Cara has entered the realm of production in 2024 with her first release 'Dusk' out now on Valiant Records.


Career highlights so far include:

Supported some amazing International and local artists including Sebastien Leger, Anthony Pappa, Low Steppa, MANDY, Lo'99, Luuk Van Dijk, MK, Sasha, Monkey Safari, Angelo Ferreri, John Course, Osunlade and DJ Seinfeld.

Performed at both Defected and Glitterbox 2022 and 2024 Melbourne shows.

Performed at Amsterdam Dance Event 2023 for an all Australian showcase.

Awarded Music Victoria's Best DJ 2023.
