People take it almost for granted but it’s such a technical and logistical challenge to run an artcar in the desert.

Festival grade tech - generators, PA, lighting etc - has to fit inside a tiny bus and kept running for a week. Overheating is the main danger, mechanical wear and tear due to dust and vibration is substantial. Generators need constant refueling. Easier said than done when the fuel truck does not show up due to sandstorms.

Then you need a bunch of security to keep people from being run over or falling off the artcar. The chaos these crews have to manage is substantial.

It takes a village. 🙏🏽❤️"

Berlin based André Lodemann has been a DJ for more than 20 years.

In 2001 he started to produce music releasing 12-inches and remixes on Moods n Grooves, Simple Records, G-Stone, Room with a View, Z Records, Freerange, Buzzinfly, DFTD amongst others. His tunes ‘Where are you now?’ and ‘The Light’ became hugely popular with the worldwide underground DJ circuit. Other highlights include remixes for Tracey Thorn, Omar, Akabu, Phonique and Vakula to name a few. Citing his greatest influences as Masters at Work, Mateo and Matos, Kerri Chandler and François Kevorkian, Lodemann’s musical vision is to create atmosphere, arouse emotion and touch people musically.

Producer and DJ Carina Lawrence is laying down the law in the underground electronic music space. Based in London, the Melbourne born artist has taken it in her stride to serve up crowds across the map with a barrage of house music in all its finest forms.

Having tapped into some of the world’s most loved and iconic clubs, festivals and events, while releasing stellar tunes to fire up charts and giving a taste of her flavour with ‘DownUnderground’ on Bloop Radio London, it’s without a doubt an exciting journey that’s evolving.

Curating a dynamic recipe of melodic house and techno with a fusion of progressive and Afro-house hues, there is no denying the path for Carina is well paved. Revelers can expect a symphony of melodic moments, soulful tribal grooves and eclectic influences emanating from the system while she plays and one look at her in the booth reveals the concentration and attention to detail that she has become famous for. No ego, just good tunes, on-point mixing and a mood and energy in the room second to none.

Carina’s love of diverse sounds is encapsulated in her debut release alongside her partner under their new project Otherhalf - @otherhalfmusic. Their track ‘Ancestral’ featured on Australian label @ugenius-music VA ‘Cavalry 007’ in September 2022. Peaking at #3 on Beatport’s Progressive House Releases and #10 on the Melodic House & Techno Release charts, the VA took music enthusiasts to another place, while ‘Ancestral’ held the #38 spot on the Hype Melodic House & Techno charts. 

On the show circuit, Carina has ticked boxes. From Melbourne’s famed Revolver, to Onesixone, and festivals like Rainbow Serpent, Stereosonic and Future Music Festival. In her new hometown of London, she has graced the decks at the closing weekend of Printworks, Drumsheds, Fabric, E1, Studio 338 and The Steelyard. With appearances at clubs in Rome, Tel Aviv, Hvar, Bali and Mykonos’ Paradise Club, the music she’s delivering is causing a stir globally.

Locally, Carina has also joined forces with some of the top music event curators that the city has to offer, playing with Free From Sleep, Parable, Broadwicklive and LWE, where she’s been on support for international acts including Adriatique, Carlita, Trikk, Jimi Jules, Joris Voorn, Dosem, Jody Wisternoff, Lauren Mia and Guy J.
