Für unsere #236 konnten wir niemand geringeren als die überaus sympathische Berlinerin Annett Gapstream gewinnen. Mit ihrem einzigartigen Stil, jeder Menge an Energie und groovigen Beats fernab des Trends hat sie uns schon lange um den Finger gewickelt. Zu Recht, wie wir und viele andere finden. 

Sie selbst beschreibt ihren überaus erfolgreichen Werdegang mit der Aussage, „From Berlin into the world.“ Ja das trifft es definitiv auf den Punkt. So bespielte sie nicht nur so gut wie jeden Berliner Club, sondern auch diverse Bühnen auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene. Nicht zu vergessen ihre unzähligen und überaus faszinierenden Auftritte auf dem Fusion Festival. Ganz nebenbei produziert sie auch Musik und hatte bisher Releases auf den bekannten Labels Stil Vor Talent, Rebellion der Träumer und Artminding.  
Ihr eingespielter Mix ist eine schöne Reise durch die weiten Welten der Hypnose. Mal düster und pulsierend, bindet sie nach und nach immer mehr Flächen ein, die zum Träumen einladen. Egal ob House oder Techno, alles ist dabei. Dabei hält sie gekonnt den Spagat zwischen Traum und Tanz. Eine Formel die süchtig macht. Dazu technisch und stilistisch stimmig fein abgemischt. Ein Genus und das ist untertrieben.

Musik, die wie gemalt ist für eine perfekte Afterhour.

Wir sind unglaublich froh dass wir Annett für unsere Reihe gewinnen konnten. Wir danken dir von Herzen für dieses bewusstseinserweiternde Set und deine Mühe diesen Podcast aufzunehmen. 

Anbei noch unser kleines Interview:

• Was sind deine musikalischen Einflüsse? Was ist dein musikalischer Hintergrund?
Meine wirklich prägenden musikalischen Einflüsse werden regelmäßig auf der Tanzfläche selbst kreiert. Einmal selbst unbeobachtet feiern gehen - und damit meine ich nicht noch zwei Stunden nach einem Gig irgendwo zwischen Backstage und DJ Pult abzuhängen - ist mir, ganz persönlich, 20 Mal mehr Wert als 10 Stunden auf Beatport, Spotify & Co zu verbringen und neue Releases zu hören. Als Ausgleich zur elektronischen Musik nehme ich seit ca. einem Jahr Klavierstunden. Die Gegensätze ziehen mich magisch an und finden sich auch immer wieder in meinen Sets wieder.

• Was macht deiner Meinung nach eine gute Afterhour aus?
Gleichgesinnte, eine coole oder gemütliche Atmosphäre, keine Handys und (tendenziell entspannte) Musik, die auch mal den gewöhnlichen Pfad und das Antizipative verlässt.

• Welche Gedanken magst du uns zu deinem Mix mit auf den Weg geben?

@Naicet and I are still amazed by the experience of our first time playing at Kater Blau. It is one of Berlin’s greatest clubs and we share many blissful memories made there. That’s why we felt very honored to play our second b2b ever there. Thank you Mystic Creatures for making it possible! 

Thank you to our friends and the many strangers who danced like crazy, for this incredible vibe which set the Acid Bogen on fire and left us speechless.

My personal highlight 2022. Meeresrausch Festival, playtime 2 - 4.30 a.m. into a beautiful sunrise.

WOW, WHAT A YEAR THIS HAS BEEN!!! A rollercoaster ride in any manner, on a personal as well as on a musical level. It was the year I played the most festivals and still I haven’t uploaded any of the recordings. It just felt like those months were meant to be purely dedicated to the magical moments and encounters with people on site - be it new or old friends (you know who you are 🤟🏼).

This set is by far not mixed perfectly. The experience, however, to me was the most perfect one in 2022: A bunch of friends surrounding me on the floor and the booth, the opportunity to play after and before artists I admire (shoutout to @umamiinspace and @bonjourben !) and, after all,  the most incredible vibe and energy you, the crowd, brought about until the very last second of the set. What magic!

So here it is - my wildest uptempo journey of 2022, containing some catchy edits, tech-housy dance vibes, some darkness at first and some uplifting energy and cheesiness towards the end (my favorite). As always, accompanied by driving sahrabass lines and proper bounciness.

✔️ Was sind deine musikalischen Einflüsse?

Meine musikalischen Einflüsse sind stets am Wandeln und nicht konkret. Aber so Beispiele, wie die Stücke von Hans Zimmer, inspirieren mich besonders.

✔️ Was ist dein musikalischer Hintergrund?

Ich habe leider kein Instrument in der Kindheit gelernt, da meine Mum nicht die finanziellen Mittel hatte und die Schule nicht wirklich Support im musikalischen Bereich geleistet hat, abgesehen vom Singen im Chor. Ich war dennoch immer ein kleiner Musik-Junkie, bin auf viele Konzerte gegangen und irgendwann dann in Clubs.

✔️ Was macht deiner Meinung nach eine gute Afterhour aus?

Tolle Menschen um einen herum, gute Musik, witzige Gespräche und ein leckeres Getränk in der Hand. Und ganz wichtig, irgendwann ist auch die tollste After Hour irgendwann einmal vorbei. Den Absprung zu finden ist oft eine Kunst, aber man sollte ja bekanntlich gehen, wenn es am schönsten ist.

✔️ Wie hast du den Gig empfunden?

Mein lieber Freund justUS hatte an diesem Tag Geburtstag und viele tolle Menschen waren anwesend, weshalb der Vibe auf dem Floor und allgemein auf der Party super schön war. Ich erinnere mich immer noch total gerne daran zurück <3

✔️ Welche Gedanken magst du uns zu deinem Mix mit auf den Weg geben?

Ab und zu sollte man mal die Augen schließen, die Gedanken schweifen lassen, die Realität für einen kurzen Augenblick vergessen und nur noch die Musik fühlen lassen.

PEAK TIME (2nd part) @ SCHATZALP IRMA & PAUL

It was a beautiful setting to play on the Fire Floor of Antaris Project this year. My playtime was sunday evening from 9 till midnight, so I could see the sunset and the moonrise over the meadows of northern Germany. As it got darker, the fire poles around the dancefloor started to spit huge flames, and there was a beautiful crowd of happy dancers enjoying themselves with me.
