Italian-born artist Riva Starr collaborates with New York-based DJ and producer Todd Terry on This Is The Sound. Previously, the pair have remixed each other’s solo productions, but their joint project on Hot Creations signifies a new beginning for the acclaimed producers.
Riva Starr talks about the significance of collaboration.

“Todd has been an inspiration since my early steps in house music,” he says. “With this EP, I just wanted to re-create some of the early house vibes with a modern twist. Feels good to have been able to collaborate with such a legend!” Together, the pair bring Riva’s vision to life on the title track, weaving a classic-house-tinged melody with crisp claps, penning an irresistible groove. Peak-time in every sense of the word. Riva Starr serves his solo offering on Creator, evoking a darker vibe. Chugging drums thump between a squelchy acid melody, paying homage to the birth of acid house in the late 80s, chopped with more contemporary textures.

Based in East London, Riva Starr’s roots lie in Naples, Italy. Having moved to London in 2008, Riva immersed himself in the UK tech house scene, playing across the country in Printworks, Motion, and Orange Yard to further afield in Pacha, Watergate, and Space Miami. As a multi-dynamic producer, Riva’s discography boasts remixes of work by Dennis Ferrer, Fatboy Slim, and Claptone and solo releases on Defected, Black Book Records, and his own Snatch! Records imprint. Grammy Award-nominated artist Todd Terry is a stalwart on the global house scene, breaking through in the mid-90s with the classic house heater “Keep on Jumpin” ft. Martha Wash and Jocelyn Brown. Since then, Todd has produced a colossal body of work on Defected, Inhouse, Freeze Records, and several others, keeping his sound aligned with his New York heritage and reinventing it with a fresh flavour.

After Bastinov ´s  solid release, Etruria continues  his aim to promote new italian talents . Now it’s time for  Tuscany ´s duo Reform , who you could already find on our last Bud Sampler .
This 25th release  features  4 tracks, incredibly different from each other, like the Ep title says , they create a true path through interesting electronic sounds.
 
First track, “The Clear Path”,  a killer dancefloor tune, which combines great, grooved drums underlaying a strong bassline topped by two powerful and melodic synths . The first one is riffing the main melody and the other one, brings a  magic touch to the ensemble .
following is Marco Effe’s remix . The Berlin based producer gives its own special touch , with incredible reverbered drums, an arpeggiated synth based on the original, but completely reworked. A real trip, that first takes the audience thru a mental abstraction , then rudely back to the dancefloor with a punchy  techno kick / bass marriage .
We continue our journey thru sound with the third track : a second remix , this time from German producer Raphael Dincsoy . Energy , Dancefloor Hypnotic , monophonic sounds are some of the adjective to characterize this third track .
 “The Agreement” is closing the release : a cut up game of voices,  played alternately towards  a huge “moog style” synth which appears after the first drop and evolves till the track ends .
 
This is Reform, and this is how they want to express their sonic and  music path, soaked into analog machines and vinyl sound , explosive and energetic .

Next up on Emerald City German duo Raumakustik serve up a sonic trip for the senses via ‘Dem A Pree’ with northern talents Patrick Topping and Jey Kurmis onboard to dish out two killer remixes.  
 
Following the huge summer anthem ‘Raider’ which dropped on Hot Creations subsidiary Hot Trax last year, Volker & Seb aka Raumakustik have been gaining an army of fans with releases following on Toolroom, Suara and Formatik. This next release, ‘Dem A Pree’ is a heavy club weapon of the highest order, prompted by dynamic and powerful vocals. “Pree means sticking your nose into someone else’s business,’ they explain. ‘Patrick Topping and Jey Kurmis did just that with our track but in this case it’s a positive thing because their perspectives on sound and vocals made it complete.”
 
Since his first release on Hot Trax back in 2013, Patrick Topping has since become one of the biggest names in the business with an intense touring schedule, a string of successful releases and a prized residency at Jamie’s Paradise night at DC10. Here he spins his signature style into the original with an intoxicating bassline that will shake any dance floor. 
 
Rising star Jey Kurmis has been making a name for himself on labels such as Moon Harbour, VIVa Music and Wow! Recordings since his artist defining EP on Hot Creations last year. Stripping the original back he creates a solid, low slung roller with industrial stabs at the forefront.
